A wheel is provided with a motor having a stator and a rotor and has with a fixed-side member supporting the stator and a rotative-side member receiving rotation transmitted from the rotor. The wheel is supported between a pair of arms with a wheel axle. An axle rotatively supports the rotor and the rotative-side member. An engaging part is provided for engagement with the fixed-side member to position the center of rotation of the rotative-side member with respect to the fixed-side member. The fixed-side member and the rotative-side member are integrated by engagement of the engaging part with the fixed-side member. This configuration allows the axle to be positioned with respect to the fixed-side member, such that the centers of holes in the axle and the fixed-side member for insertion of the wheel axle will be in alignment. The unit U is then incorporated in between the pair of arms.

To obtain vibration characteristics suited to a plurality of operating modes. A first member is mounted on at least one of a left side frame of a vehicle and a right side frame of the vehicle. The first member extends towards the right frame or the left frame. A second member is mounted to at least one of the right side frame of the vehicle and a left side frame. A vibration insulating member is provided between the first member and the second member and elastically couples the first and second members to each other.

A vibration damping apparatus for a saddle riding type vehicle that easily secures stiffness of a vehicle body frame, simplifies structure, and improves a degree of freedom in layout. The vibration damping apparatus includes at least a pair of mutually facing surfaces disposed on the vehicle body frame, the surfaces not being relatively displaceable while the vehicle is stationary, and being relatively displaceable while the vehicle is running. A damping member is fixed to each of the surfaces and is disposed therebetween. The damping member is not subject to load while the vehicle is stationary. One of the surfaces is disposed on a side of a first main frame of a pair of left and right main frames and the other of the surfaces is disposed on a side of a second main frame.

Vibration damping apparatus for saddle riding type vehicle

A motor-driven vehicle capable of increasing the degree of freedom of wiring for a motor. A drive wheel having a motor with a stator and a rotor serving as a drive source disposed in a wheel hub is rotatably supported on a wheel shaft between right and left forks. The stator is provided in a body-side retainer member fixed to a vehicle body, the rotor is rotatably supported on the wheel shaft, and wiring for the motor is passed through the body-side retainer member. The brake mechanism is provided on the drive wheel. As seen from a front of a vehicle body, the wheel hub is rotatably supported on the wheel shaft on one lateral side alone from a body center and the brake mechanism is disposed on one lateral side from a body center and the motor is disposed on the other lateral side from the body center.

Motor-driven vehicle

A saddle-type vehicle has an engine-fastening structure which stabilizes a seating face contact between a collar and a vehicle body frame on one side, and between the collar and an engine on the other side. The vehicle includes a vehicle body frame having an engine-supporting portion, and an engine block having a female threaded portion formed therein for alignment with the engine-supporting portion. The collar is interposed between the engine-supporting portion and the engine block. The engine-supporting portion of the frame, the collar and the engine side female threaded portion are fastened together by a bolt. A gap is provided at least at locations between the collar and the bolt which oppose a boundary between the collar and the engine-supporting portion, and another boundary between the collar and the engine side female threaded portion.

Connection structure arrangement between a frame member and an engine of a saddle-type vehicle, and vehicle incorporating same

A personal watercraft can be rotated in a correct direction of rotation when the personal watercraft has been overturned, and can thereby be restored to a normal, upright position. The personal watercraft includes a vessel body, an engine, and an exhaust system. The exhaust system includes a muffler, disposed on a first side of the vessel body, and an exhaust pipe connected to the muffler and formed in an inverted U-shape. During operation of the engine, exhaust gas passes through the inverted-U-shaped exhaust pipe and is subsequently discharged to the outside environment via an exhaust port. The exhaust port is disposed on a second side of the vessel body opposite the first side. The vessel body has a hollow water-receiving portion formed therein, on the second side thereof. The water-receiving portion is adapted to be submerged under water when the personal watercraft is overturned in a body of water.

Personal watercraft incorporating capsize-recovery facilitating structure, and method of using same

An exhaust gate valve apparatus of a water jet propulsion-driven watercraft is provided that is capable of positively closing an exhaust port with a valve body when an engine is stationary and widely opening the valve body when the engine runs. In the watercraft, an exhaust port of a tail pipe is arranged to face an opening in a top wall of a pump chamber. The exhaust gate valve apparatus includes a valve body, valve body support flange, pressure device, and a jet water expelling device. The valve body support flange attaches the valve body to the top wall. The pressure device urges the valve body to a closed position. The jet water expelling device diverts jet water from a water jet pump and opens the valve body using the jet water thus diverted, counteracting a pressing force of the pressure device and opening the valve body.

Exhaust gate valve apparatus for a personal watercraft

An exhaust system for a small-sized boat which can efficiently reduce exhaust noises in a low frequency band includes a water muffler provided at one location along exhaust pipes extending from an engine disposed in a boat body. The inside of the water muffler is divided into a single expansion chamber and a resonator chamber, and a front exhaust pipe coupled to the engine and a rear exhaust pipe opened to the outside of the boat are connected to the expansion chamber. Between the front exhaust pipe opened to the inside of the expansion chamber and the rear exhaust pipe, a water-controlling plate is provided in an upper side of the expansion chamber.

Exhaust system for small-sized boat

The invention is directed at increasing the degree of freedom in layout of the resonator, and the exhaust system including the resonator will be improved. Also, the invention is directed at a resonator and exhaust system wherein when an attempt is made to raise the engine speed from the idling state, the engine speed will be smoothly raised. According to the invention, there is provided a bilge pump for draining water within a hull; cooling water is caused to flow within an exhaust pipe of an engine; and in the exhaust system, there is provided a resonator. The resonator is connected to the bilge pump through bilge pipes. The bilge pump is constructed of a jet propulsion pump to be driven by the engine. Even if the resonator is arranged below the water line, the water which accumulates within the resonator will be drained by the bilge pump, and it becomes possible to arrange the resonator below the water line without interfering with the function of the resonator.
