The invention provides a method of preparing a biological tissue sample and a method of observing a biological tissue section sample that enable stereoscopic observation of a biological tissue easily and rapidly without destroying a biological tissue piece. The method of observing a biological tissue sample according to the invention is a method in which stereoscopic morphology of a biological tissue sample is observed, and the method includes: cutting out a sample having a thickness of 15 to 50 &#x3bc;m from a sample block obtained by fixing, dehydrating, and paraffin-embedding a sample cut out from a biological tissue; transferring the sample to a surface-treated slide glass; stretching the sample on the slide glass; performing deparaffinization processing; then, staining the sample with a heavy metal-based staining agent; and observing the stained sample with a scanning electron microscope.

A sublimation defrost system for a refrigeration apparatus including: a cooling device in a freezer, and includes a casing containing a heat exchanger pipe; a refrigerating device for cooling and liquefying a COrefrigerant; and a refrigerant circuit connected to the heat exchanger pipe permitting the cooled and liquefied COrefrigerant to circulate. Defrosting frost deposited on the coolers disposed in a refrigerating-storage room for cooling the room can be carried out without the necessity of stopping the operation of refrigerating cycle and with low cost and high efficiency. Compressed air is blown to the coolers by means of nozzles to which the compressed air is supplied intermittently.

In an image workflow system for use in transferring an operation document to a network including a destination terminal, and image identifying serveridentifies a species, an operation of the operation document image, and a destination by the use of an identification table and a workflow control table. The species, the operation, and the destination are transferred to the destination terminal in the form of a packet together with the operation document image through the network. Responsive to the operation document image, the destination terminal activates a program and edits the operation document image in accordance with the operation.

A document identification registration system is provided for identification and registration of (constituent elements of) documents such as slips and notes of books. For example, the document identification registration system inputs digital picture data representing a picture of a slip, which is picked up by an image pickup device. From the digital picture data, the system extracts unregistered constituent elements such as characters and/or lines of rectangular frames, which are printed on the slip. From the constituent elements, the system selects a first constituent element to meet a prescribed condition. Then, the first constituent element is compared with the registered constituent elements, which are stored in advance. Next, the system further selects a second constituent element, which is clearly identified from the registered constituent elements, from the first constituent element on the basis of comparison result. So, the system registers the second constituent element therein. Thus, it is possible to perform identification of the slips with ease and with a high identification precision.
