A deviation controller to prevent deviation of a vehicle from a lane of travel includes a displacement estimator configured to estimate a future lateral displacement of the vehicle with respect to the lane of travel, a detecting device configured to detect a tendency of the vehicle to deviate from the lane of travel, a prevention controller configured to apply a yaw moment to correct a travel path of the vehicle when the tendency of the vehicle to deviate from the lane of travel is detected, a correction canceling device configured to cancel the yaw moment of the prevention controller when a steering angle exceeds a canceling threshold, and a threshold adjusting device configured to adjust the canceling threshold in response to the estimated future lateral displacement.

A lane departure prevention apparatus includes a control section configured to carry out a lane departure prevention control to prevent a vehicle from departing from a lane, and to finish the lane departure prevention control by using a predetermined finish parameter; a vehicle-state detecting section configured to detect a state of vehicle at least when or after the lane departure prevention control is started; and a control finish-parameter correcting section configured to correct the predetermined finish parameter on the basis of the vehicle state detected by the vehicle-state detecting section.

Lane departure prevention apparatus and method

The present lane departure prevention system can prevent a vehicle from departing from a lane of travel, even when the vehicle tows a towed vehicle. When the towed vehicle is detected, the lane departure prevention system changes a target yaw moment from that used in normal departure avoidance control operation. The change is based on a force input to the vehicle from the towed vehicle, which is caused by carrying out departure avoidance control, thereby controlling the vehicle so as not to depart from the lane using a corrected yaw moment.

A lane departure prevention apparatus is configured to conduct a course correction in a lane departure avoidance direction when the controller determines that there is a potential for a vehicle to depart from a driving lane. The controller combines yaw control and deceleration control to conduct departure prevention control in accordance with the lane departure condition and the running condition. Preferably, a target yaw moment in a lane departure avoidance direction is calculated which takes in consideration the running condition of the vehicle such as disturbances changing the vehicle behavior and the road surface friction coefficient of the driving lane, and a deceleration amount of a necessary minimum for suppressing a feeling of discomfort in the passengers stemming from the yaw moment provided to the vehicle is calculated based on the basis of the running condition of the vehicle.
