An intake manifold including a surge tank having an inlet and a plurality of outlets extended along a first direction, and configured to form a space having a cross section larger than the inlet between the inlet and the plurality of outlets and a plurality of branch pipes. The space is formed by a bottom surface, an upper surface, a first surface extended from a first end of the bottom surface to a first end of the upper surface, and a second surface extended from a second end of the bottom surface to a second end of the upper surface. The inlet is provided at a substantially central portion in a first direction on the first surface, and the bottom surface includes a swelling portion swelled upwardly at a substantially central portion in the first direction.

Intake manifold

An intake manifoldincludes: a surge tankthat is connected on an upstream side thereof to a throttle valve; multiple branch pipesthat are arranged side by side in a longitudinal direction of the surge tankand respectively connected to cylinders; and a PCV chamberthat is provided upstream of a central part in the longitudinal direction of the surge tank. An intake manifoldincludes: a blowby gas introduction portthat is configured to introduce blowby gas into a PCV chamber; a blowby gas exhaust portthat is configured to discharge the blowby gas from the PCV chamberinto a surge tank; and a drain holethat is configured to discharge water contained in the blowby gas, from the PCV chamberinto the surge tank. A bottom wallof the surge tankincludes protruding partsthat protrude upward, the blowby gas exhaust portis located upstream of the most upstream side protruding partlocated on the most upstream side, and the drain holeis located downstream of the most upstream side protruding part.

An on board refueling vapor recovery system includes a first fuel vapor passage for connecting a fuel tank with a canister, a second fuel vapor passage for connecting an inlet portion of a fuel filler pipe with the fuel vapor passage (a tank main body) and a check valve in the second fuel vapor passage. The check valve is integrated with a first quick connector of a resin hose (a resin tube) which constitutes the second fuel vapor passage. Therefore, the number of man hours required for assembling the on board refueling vapor recovery system can be reduced. In addition, the space required for installing any of the on board refueling vapor recovery system can also be reduced. Furthermore, the amount of released fuel evaporative emissions or fuel evaporative emissions can be reduced.

On board refueling vapor recovery system and fuel vapor passage using for the same

Blockage of a drain pipe of a canister due to freezing or clogging with mud is prevented with a simple structure comprised of a small number of parts. A drain pipe, mounted to a canister body having an adsorbent accommodated therein, includes an inner shell which extends downwards from the canister body and opens at its lower end, and an outer shell which opens at its upper and lower ends. The lower end of the inner shell is inserted into the opening in the upper end of the outer shell with a gap left therebetween. Even if the opening in the lower end of the outer shell is blocked due to freezing or clogging with mud, surplus fuel or the exterior air can flow from the canister body via the opening in the upper end of the outer shell. If the opening in the lower end of the outer shell is submerged in water when evaporated fuel is purged into intake system, the drawing of water into the canister body can be prevented, because the opening in the upper end of the outer shell opens into the atmosphere.

Drain pipe of canister

An evaporative fuel-processing system for an internal combustion engine for use in a vehicle. A passage extends between the fuel tank and the intake passage of the engine, for guiding evaporative fuel generated in the fuel tank, for processing, and across which a canister having an air communication port is arranged. A drain passage is connected to the air communication port, to which a valve casing is connected. A first passage is connected to the valve casing, and a first valve is associated with the first passage and the valve casing, for allowing air to flow into the canister through the first passage, the valve casing and the air communication port and for inhibiting evaporative fuel from being discharged from the canister through the air communication port, the valve casing and the first passage. A second passage is connected to the valve casing, and a second valve is associated with the second passage and the valve casing, for inhibiting air from flowing into the canister through the second passage, the valve casing and the air communication port and for allowing evaporative fuel to be discharged from the canister through the air communication port, the valve casing, and the second passage. At least one of the first and second valves is bypassed.
