A valve timing control apparatus includes: a drive-side rotational member synchronously rotating with a drive shaft of an internal combustion engine; a driven-side rotational member disposed inside the drive-side rotational member and integrally rotating with a valve opening/closing camshaft; a hydrostatic pressure chamber formed by partitioning a space between the drive-side rotational and driven-side rotational members; an advance angle chamber and a retardation angle chamber formed by dividing the hydrostatic pressure chamber; an intermediate lock mechanism able to selectively switch between locked and unlocked states; an advance angle flow path allowing the hydraulic fluid to be circulated; a retardation angle flow path allowing the hydraulic fluid to be circulated; a control valve having a spool; and a phase control unit controlling the control valve.

A driving force control system for a vehicle having a mechanism for changing an engine speed continuously. The driving force control system basically controls said mechanism in a manner such that the engine speed is adjusted to optimize fuel economy. The driving force control system is configured to determine an index representing a demand to enhance agility of behavior of the vehicle based on an actual behavior of the vehicle or an amount of operation carried out by a driver to cause said behavior. An upper limit value of the engine speed of the case in which a drive demand is increased is determined on the basis of the index, and the upper limit value is set to the higher value with an increase in the index representing the demand to enhance agility of behavior of the vehicle.

A solenoid includes: a coil wound around a bobbin; a case section accommodating the coil; a tubular yoke arranged on an inner circumferential portion of the coil; and a plunger arranged on an inner circumferential portion of the yoke, and moving from a start position along an axial direction of the yoke by magnetic attraction force generated in the yoke, wherein a diameter increasing portion whose diameter is increased from the start position toward a lower part in the axial direction is formed on an outer circumferential surface of the yoke, and the diameter increasing portion overlaps at least a part of a moving region of a lower-part side end portion of the plunger, and wherein an inner circumferential surface of the yoke guides the movement of the plunger and the yoke includes a contact member that regulates the movement of the plunger on the inner circumferential surface.

A disk file apparatus including an accommodating shelf having a multiplicity of accommodating spaces provided therein in a row in the vertical direction, a multiplicity of cartridges disposed in the accommodating spaces, respectively, each having a disk received therein, a coder which writes or reads information in relation to either the side A or B of the disk received in each of the cartridges, and a carrier arranged such as to move vertically along the front surface of the accommodating shelf, draw out one of the multiplicity of cartridges, and load the cartridge into the coder after turning the cartridge through 180 degrees according to need. The disk file apparatus is provided with a transfer mechanism disposed at the side of the apparatus which is closer to the accommodating shelf. The transfer mechanism has a feed and discharge port through which a cartridge is taken in from and discharged to the outside, and a moving mechanism which is rotatable back and forth to make a half turn during a cartridge feed or discharge operation so as to reach a position where it is able to exchange a cartridge with the carrier. Accordingly, there is no fear of the transfer mechanism interfering with the vertical travel path of the carrier, and it is therefore possible to dispose the transfer mechanism at any position in the apparatus.
