The management server further includes a provisioning circuit configured to dynamically determine, for a required logical device operation, a resource server among all of the resource servers connected to the management server by way of provisioning. The management server further includes a calling circuit configured to search the storage table using a locale among the plurality of locales that is associated with the dynamically determined resource server to select a workflow from the plurality of workflows for the required logical device operation.

Facilitating provisioning in a mixed environment of locales

Aspects capable of dynamically and flexibly supporting a plurality of locales upon provisioning are provided. An associated management server includes a storage table configured to store a plurality of logical device operations, a plurality of locales, and a plurality of workflows. The management server further includes a provisioning circuit configured to dynamically determine, for a required logical device operation among the plurality of logical device operations, a resource server among all resource servers connected to the management server by way of provisioning. Each of the resource servers is associated with a different one of the plurality of locales in advance of the provisioning. The management server further includes a calling circuit configured to search the storage table using a locale among the plurality of locales that is associated with the dynamically determined resource server to select a workflow from the plurality of workflows for the required logical device operation.

An operation management system capable of simultaneously detecting and managing, in a computer distributed processing environment, employs physical location information about locations where computers are located and logical location information of software programs running on the computers. Physical location information of a network connection device, such as a network switch, is described in a master data library or the like in advance, and is created as configuration items and discovered by a software dependency discovery unit. Configuration items stored in a configuration management database are associated with the configuration items for the physical location information. Preferably, the physical location information is configured as structured data. This makes it possible to establish hierarchical associations between configuration items for the physical location information.

Information processing system, operation management method for computer systems, and program in a distributed network environment

A system may identify a second software configuration item for possible backup in response to selection of a first software configuration item for backup, where the first and second software configuration items are related. The system may include a detecting unit for detecting information regarding at least one hardware and at least two software configuration items. A repository may store a set of data for each configuration item based on the detected information. The set of data may include a predetermined attribute of the configuration item and a relation between the configuration item and another configuration item. An identifying unit may then identify the second software configuration item from the attribute and/or the relation upon selection of the first software configuration item for backup.

A first embodiment of the invention includes a computer program product including machine executable instructions stored on machine readable media, the instructions for providing an installation plan for installing at least one application in at least one processing system, by implementing a method. The method includes loading a configuration management database (CMDB) for the processing system, the CMDB including a pre-requisite relations knowledge database and a configuration information database. The method also includes receiving installation data for an installation of the at least one application and determining one or more installation plans for the installation of the application based upon the CMDB and the installation data. The method further includes displaying the one or more installation plans to a user, including an indication of a best installation plan.
