The invention provides a method for producing a coated steel sheet for a can. A film of aluminum, aluminum alloy, titanium or titanium alloy 0.005 to 5 .mu.m thick is plated on one surface of a steel sheet by means of a dry process. A metal film is also plated on the other surface of the steel sheet by means of a dry process.

This invention relates to a highly corrosion-resistant, multi-layer coated steel sheet, and includes an undercoat film obtained by galvanization or zinc-alloy plating and a chromate coated film thereon, on which a resin-composition film is further applied, comprising an organic high-molecular weight resin having a glass transision temperature of 343.degree. to 423.degree. K. and soluble in organic solvent and hydrophobic silica. For the purpose of improvement of corrosion preventiveness, a sparingly water soluble Cr compound may be contained in this resin composition film. Together with this sparingly water soluble Cr compound, a di- or tri-alkoxysilane compound may be also contained in the resin composition film.

The present invention relates to a highly corrosion resistant surface-treated steel plate. The steel plate of the invention comprises a zinc deposition or zinc alloy deposition film as the undercoat deposition layer, a chromate film formed on the undercoat deposition layer and a film of a resin composition formed on the chromate film. This resin composition comprises a substrate resin formed by adding at least one basic nitogen atom and at least two primary hydrogen groups to terminal of an epoxy resin, silica and sparingly water soluble Cr compound. The resin composition may comprise a polyisocyanate compound as the curing agent. The present invention relates to a highly corrosion-resistant surface-treated steel plate. The steel plate of the present invention comprises a zinc deposition or zinc alloy deposition film as the undercoat deposition layer, a chromate film formed on the undercoat deposition layer and a film of a resin composition formed on the chromate film. This resin composition comprises a base resin formed by adding at least one basic nitrogen atom and at least two primary hydroxyl groups to terminals of an epoxy resin. The resin composition may comprise a polyisocyanate compound as the curing agent. Furthermore, the resin composition may comprise silica or a hardly soluble chromium compound as the additive for improving the corrosion resistance. Moreover, the resin composition may comprise a silane compound as the crosslinking agent for the base resin and silica.

The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a highly anticorrosive surface-treated steel plate. This process comprises the steps of subjecting a surface of a steel plate having a plating layer of the zinc or aluminum type deposited thereon to a chromate treatment to form a chromate film, treating the steel plate with an organic composite silica solution comprising an epoxy resin in an amount exceeding a certain level as an indispensable component and a curing agent optionally incorporated therein to form an organic composite silicate film comprising colloidal silica, organic resin and silane formed on the chromate film, and heat-treating the steel plate at a specific temperature.

An iron-zinc alloy electro-galvanized steel sheet having a plurality of iron-zinc alloy coatings, which comprises: at least one iron-zinc alloy coating as the lower layer, formed on the surface of a steel sheet, and at least two iron-zinc alloy coatings as the upper layer, formed on the at least one iron-zinc alloy coating as the lower layer. The ratio of iron content to the coating weight of each of the at least one iron-zinc alloy coating as the lower layer is within the range of from 1 to 15 wt. %, and the total coating weight of the at least one iron-zinc alloy coating as the lower layer is within the range of from 1 to 50 g/m.sup.2 per side of the steel sheet. The ratio of iron content to the coating weight of each of the at least two iron-zinc alloy coatings as the upper layer is over 15 wt. %, the ratio of iron content to the coating weight gradually increases from the innermost coating toward the outermost coating of the at least two iron-zinc alloy coatings as the upper layer, the difference in the ratio or iron content to the coating weight between two adjacent coatings of the at least two iron-zinc alloy coatings as the upper layer is within the range of from 1 to 15 wt. %, and the total coating weight of the at least two iron-zinc alloy coatings as the upper layer is within the range of from 1 to 40 g/m.sup.2 per side of the steel sheet. The difference in the ratio of iron content to the coating weight between the uppermost coating of the at least one iron-zinc alloy coating as the lower layer and the lowermost coating of the at least two iron-zinc alloy coatings as the upper layer is within the range of from 1 to 15 wt. %. The sum of the total coating weight of the at least one iron-zinc alloy coating as the lower layer and the total coating weight of the at least two iron-zinc alloy coatings as the upper layer is within the range of from 10 to 75 wt. % per side of the steel sheet.
