A foam rubber composition and a method for making same which is foamable to a high degree and a molded product made from the foam rubber composition wherein the compositions has: (A) a low-molecular Ethylene-propylene-5-ethylidene-2-norbornene terpolymer having a Mooney viscosity (ML.sub.1+4 at 100.degree. C.) of 20 to 40, an ethylene/propylene ratio by weight of 65/35 to 50/50, an iodine value of 20 to 30, and a Q value (Mw/Mn) not exceeding 3 as determined by gel permeation chromatography; (B) a high-molecular ethylene-propylene-5-ethylidene-2-norbornene terpolymer having a Mooney viscosity (ML.sub.1+4 at 100.degree. C.) of 100 to 300, an ethylene/propylene ratio by weight of 65/35 to 50/50, an iodine value of 20 to 30 and a Q value (Mw/Mn) of 6 to 10; (C) a vulcanizing system agent containing sulfur as a vulcanizer, and zinc carbamate and sulfenamide as accelerators; and (D) a foaming agent containing N, N'-dinitrosopentamethylenetetramine and urea.

Foam rubber composition and a molded product of foam rubber

The present invention provides a vulcanizable rubber composition comprising 100 parts by weight of a polymer component consisting of 30 to 80 wt. % of an ethylene.cndot..alpha.-olefin.cndot.non-conjugated diene copolymer having a Mooney viscosity of 10 to 100 (ML.sub.1+4 100.degree. C.) and an iodine value of 20 to 45 and containing ethylene and .alpha.-olefin in a weight ratio of 50:50 to 90:10, and 20 to 70 wt. % of a styrene-conjugated diolefin block copolymer, 20 to 150 parts by weight of a reinforcing filler, 3 to 30 parts by weight of sulfur, 0 to 50 parts by weight of a styrene resin and 0 to 100 parts by weight of an extending oil.

A vulcanizable rubber composition comprising an ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer modified with an alkenyl aromatic compound alone or in combination with at least one other polymerizable compound, as a polymer component. The vulcanizable rubber composition is excellent in weather-resistance, ozone-resistance and heat-resistance and has a high strength, a high rigidity and a high hardness.

A cured ethylene.multidot..alpha.-olefin copolymer-based rubber composition excellent in weathering resistance property is produced by curing with an organic peroxide an uncured rubber composition comprising 100 parts by weight of an ethylene .multidot..alpha.-olefin copolymer-based rubber, 1 to 10 parts by weight of a hindered amine-based weathering agent, 0.01 to 10 parts by weight of a phenol-based antioxidant, 0.01 to 10 parts by weight of a sulfur-based antioxidant, 0.01 to 10 parts by weight of a phosphite ester-based antioxidant, and 1 to 10 parts by weight of a benzotriazole-based ultraviolet absorber.
