A chain which does not generate hydrogen brittleness is formed with components having improved wear resistance. At least one part of the chain, for example a surface, is covered with a diamond-like amorphous carbon coating (DLC). Further, metallic particles are dispersed into the diamond-like amorphous carbon coating.

Wear resistant chain

A rolled product for a chain and a method for producing the rolled product are disclosed. Plural dimples are formed in a zigzag pattern in at least one of inner and outer peripheral surfaces of the rolled product, the dimples absorbing plastic deformation of a rolled workpiece when the rolled product is forced through a circular orifice of a die, and plural recessed portions are defined by the dimples on any imaginary straight line on the dimpled surface in the axial direction of the rolled product. The absorption of plastic flow by the dimples prevents a waving phenomenon from occurring at the end faces of the rolled product. When the rolled product is used as a chain component such as bushing or roller, it is possible to prevent leakage of a lubricant in the axial direction of the rolled product, and hence possible to improve the lubricant retaining performance in a rotating and sliding portion.

Elongation of a moving endless body, such as a chain, a belt, a conveyor or the like, is measured continuously by providing two indices, e.g. pins or tongues, on the endless body, and two sensors, e.g. magnetic or optical sensors, along the path of circulating movement of the endless body. The sensors are connected to an arithmetic circuit which determines elongation from the data provided by the sensors.

In a shaft connecting structure, particularly suitable for fragile or brittle shafts of ceramic materials, used in high temperature environments such as conveyors in sintering furnaces, two shafts are connected in end-to-end driving relationship. Each shaft has one or more axial sector-sectional projections and sector-sectional grooves alternately formed at its end. The sector-sectional projections of each shaft enter the sector-sectional grooves of the other shaft, and the assembly of projections and grooves is clearance-fit in a cylindrical opening of a body which may be carried by the shafts or fixed to another structure.

A chain includes a plurality of identical link elements each including a main body part with a cantilevered connecting part integrally formed at one end thereof. The connecting part includes an enlarged rounded head portion and a narrower neck portion extending between the head portion and the main body part. The main body part has a rounded recess and a narrow slot formed in a first surface thereof. The slot adjoins an end of the recess opposite the connecting element. The slot extends from the recess to adjoin a side surface of the main body. Confining sections extend from the surface of the main body adjacent the slot so as to overlie opposite sides of the recess. The recess, slot and confining sections together define an opening in the first surface which has substantially the same shape as the connecting element. The chain is formed by inserting the connecting part of one link element into the recess of an adjacent link element and pivoting the one link element about its head portion such that its neck portion is received in the slot of the adjacent link element and its head portion is captured in the recess by the overlying confining sections.

This invention relates to a chain link plate which is constructed by a high tensile strength fiber which is wound around between two pivot points and which is fixed to each other by adhesive material. The link plate is improved in strength and decreased in weight.

A continuous push-drive chain formed by a plurality of blocks, each of the blocks having a letter V-shaped configuration in side elevation, defining large engagement surfaces relative to overall block size; and, structure for connecting adjacent blocks to one another disposed at one distal end of the V-shaped configuration, whereby large pushing forces between the blocks may be transmitted substantially unidirectionally and independently of the connecting structure, simultaneously increasing chain load capacity and reducing chain wear.

Push-drive chain

A conveyor or chain having a tubular filament-wound cylindrical element used as the pins interconnecting the link plates and/or as rollers or bushings in the chain assembly. The element is formed from a length of tubular material which is wound on a mandrel having an outside diameter equal to the inside diameter of the tubular element. The filament of the winding is a long aramid fiber which is integrated in the tubular material by an adhesive agent.
