A gas liquefaction apparatus includes at least a source-gas supply line that supplies source gas; a room-temperature heat exchanger, a preliminary-cooling heat exchanger, and a liquefaction/supercooling heat exchanger that are provided in series sequentially in the source-gas supply line and that cool the source gas; a separation drum that separates the source gas containing a condensate, which has been cooled by heat exchange up to a liquefaction temperature of the source gas or below, into a gas component and a liquefied component; and a refrigerant-gas supply line that uses a gas component separated by the separation drum as refrigerant gas to supply the refrigerant gas in a direction opposite to a supply direction of the source gas, in order of the liquefaction/supercooling heat exchanger, the preliminary-cooling heat exchanger, and the room-temperature heat exchanger.

The wet-gas desulfurizing apparatus according to this invention removes the oxides of sulfur, such as SO, from combustion exhaust gas by scrubbing the combustion exhaust with an absorption liquid which contains an alkali. It includes: 1) a branch pipe to circulate the absorption liquid which is inserted into a collection tank, of which the end discharges the absorption liquid into the collection tank, and the branch pipe having an internal diameter of D; and 2) an air-blowing pipe in inject air into the branch pipe, of which the end is inserted at an insertion point located between 3 D and 10 D from the discharge end of the branch pipe. This invention relates to a method for the treatment of a desulfurization absorbing fluid after gas-liquid contact with combustion exhaust gas in which fine particles of unburned carbon and other materials are efficiently removed from the desulfurization absorbing fluid to improve the quality of a by-product (e.g., gypsum) obtained therefrom. The method of this invention comprises the steps of feeding a gas into a desulfurization absorbing fluid (A) containing fine particles of unburned carbon and other materials and thereby producing gas bubbles so as to cause the fine particles to adhere to the surfaces of the gas bubbles and create a foam phase (D) consisting of the gas bubbles; and breaking the foam phase (D) to obtain a liquid (E) containing the fine particles.

A wet flue gas desulfurizer wherein sulfur dioxide is absorbed into a slurry and an oxygen-containing gas is blown into the slurry to oxidize sulfites present in the slurry is characterized in that a slurry oxidation tank is equipped with a return pipeline for returning a portion of the slurry to a position at or near the bottom of the slurry oxidation tank, and the oxygen-containing gas is blown in at the discharge end of the return pipeline so as to divide the oxygen-containing gas finely by the action of the slurry returned through the return pipeline.

The dust concentration of the flue gas leaving an electrostatic precipitator and introduced into an absorption tower of a desulfurizer is adjusted to a level of 100 to 500 mg/Nm.sup.3. At the same time, a dust slurry having a higher dust concentration is separated and withdrawn from the slurry within the aforesaid absorption tower, and then subjected to a solid-liquid separation treatment. Thus, solid matter containing dust at a high concentration is extracted and discharged out of the system of the desulfurizer.

The present invention provides an evaporative concentration apparatus for waste water having an evaporating vessel 2 for evaporatively concentrating waste water and a heater 3 for circularly heating an in-vessel liquid in the evaporating vessel 2, in which the whole or part of thermal energy of generated steam 6 discharged from the evaporating vessel 2 is recovered by an absorption heat pump 29, and the thermal energy is supplied to the heater 3. According to the present invention, evaporative concentration can be effected efficiently in the evaporating vessel by effectively utilizing the thermal energy of generated steam, and also the operation of evaporative concentration apparatus can be performed stably by stably securing heating steam quantity.

A flue gas treating system for removing sulfur dioxide and dust present in flue gas by gas-liquid contact with an absorbing fluid and has an inlet side absorption tower of the liquid column type and an outlet side absorption tower of the liquid column type, each of which has a uniform cross-section over the area of gas-liquid contact, and the cross-section of flue gas in the inlet side absorption tower is smaller than the cross section of flue gas in the outlet side absorption tower. The inlet side absorption tower is constructed in the form of a parallel-flow absorption tower wherein the flue gas flows downward for favorable collection of dust and absorption of sulfur dioxide. The outlet side absorption tower is constructed in the form of a counter-flow adsorption tower wherein the flue gas flows upward for favorable absorption of sulfur dioxide. The absorbing fluid within a tank is injected upward from a plurality of spray pipes.
