Abrasion powder from the clutch retaineris prevented from getting mixed into the grease used for lubricating the roller clutch, and the grease is prevented from becoming exposed to high temperatures, and so degrading too quickly is prevented in the grease. Specifically, a retaining pieceis formed at one end of the clutch retainerin the inner-diameter side portion thereof, and a retaining collar sectionis formed around the inner peripheral surface of the other end of the clutch retainer. The inner ringfor the clutch is held from both sides in the axial direction between the fitting portionat the tip end of the retaining pieceand the retaining collar section. Consequently, displacement in the axial direction of the clutch retaineris limited, so that the axially opposite end surfaces of the clutch retaineris prevented from coming in sliding contact with the sections that rotate relative to the clutch retainer, specifically the inside surfaces of a pair of collar sectionsof the outer ringfor the clutch.

A wheel-driving unit and a method for manufacturing the same. The circumferential-direction widths of teeth respectively constituting a male spline portion () and a female spline portion () are varied gradually in the respective axial directions of the male and female spline portions (), (). The directions where the widths of the teeth respectively constituting the male and female spline portions (), () increase in the axial direction are set so as to differ from each other, whereby the spline teeth are engaged with each other in a wedge-like manner. A retaining ring () is bridgingly interposed between the outer peripheral surface of the outer end portion of the spline shaft () and the inner peripheral surface of the near-to-outer-end portion of the spline hole () to thereby prevent the spline shaft () from slipping out of the spline hole ().

A rolling-bearing unit for wheel support comprising an outer-race with a double row of tapered and concave-shaped outer-ring raceways, a hub comprising a hub body with an outside inner-ring raceway and a separate inner-race with an inside inner-ring raceway, and a tapered rollers between the inner-ring raceways and the outer-ring raceways respectively, the hub body formed with a cylindrical section, and a support-step section which the separate inner-race is fitted onto, the cylindrical section plastically deformed radially outward to form a crimped section, the support-step section formed with a step surface, one end surface of the separate inner-race abutted to the step surface while the other end surface retained by the crimped section, the inner-ring raceway of the separate inner-race connected to the side surface of the large-diameter-side collar section through a connecting portion which is provided with a grinding-relief groove, and wherein the contact area between the other end surface of the separate inner ring and the crimped section has a maximum diameter smaller than the diameter defined by the bottom of the grinding-relief groove.

Clutch releasing bearing apparatus

In a sealing device for a rolling bearing wherein the clearance between an outer race and an inner race is sealed by a sealing plate fixed to the outer race side, the sealing plate has on its inner periphery an axially extending inner lip, a radially extending outer lip and an intermediate lip extending between said two lips and having the tip end thereof divided into two directions. The inner race has on its outer peripheral surface adjacent to the end thereof a concave seal groove having an inner shoulder and an outer shoulder having a diameter smaller than that of the inner shoulder. The inner lip of the sealing plate cooperates with the inner shoulder of the seal groove to form an inner sealing portion between the inner lip and the inner shoulder. The outer lip of the sealing plate cooperates with the outer shoulder of the seal groove to form an outer sealing portion between the outer lip and the outer shoulder. At least one of the bifurcated lips of the intermediate lip contacts the side wall of the seal groove to form an intermediate sealing portion.
