A method and a system for producing images of a subject, such as the heart of a human being. The method may comprise acquiring ultrasound images of the subject with a catheter comprising a position sensor. The method may also comprise capturing a plurality of 4D surface registration points in the acquired ultrasound images corresponding to points on the subject. The method may also comprise registering, in space and time, a high-resolution 4D model of the subject with the plurality of 4D surface registration points. The method may also comprise displaying high resolution, real-time images of the subject during a medical procedure based on the registration of the high resolution 4D model to the 4D surface registration points. Embodiments of the present invention are especially useful in left atrium ablation procedures.

Method of recognizing a position of a workpiece from a photographed image

A camera of a ground-based information dispatch apparatus captures a blind-spot image, showing a region that is a blind spot with respect to a vehicle driver. A vehicle-mounted camera captures a forward-view image corresponding to the viewpoint of the driver, and the forward-view image is transmitted to the information dispatch apparatus together with vehicle position and direction information and camera parameters. Based on the received information, the blind-spot image is converted to a corresponding image having the viewpoint of the vehicle driver, and the forward-view image and viewpoint-converted blind-spot image are combined to form a synthesized image, which is transmitted to the vehicle.

Systems and methods of generating updated surgical plans are described herein. In one embodiment, a method of generating an updated surgical plan can include generating a three dimensional (3D) model of a bone, generating a surgical plan based on the 3D model, in which the surgical plan can include: locations on the bone upon which to dispose a fixator and settings of struts of the fixator, disposing the fixator on the bone based on the surgical plan, and, based on data associated with the placement of the fixator disposed on the bone, generating an updated surgical plan including updated settings for the struts.

Computer-aided bone distraction

A polyhedron recognition system that is not easily affected by the camera position and camera range when the shape of a staircase or other polyhedron is recognized from an image obtained by photography, and that can also recognize the shape with good accuracy. In the system, predetermined regions (staircase candidate regions) within the image input from two CCD cameras are selected, and a range image is obtained stereoscopically with the two cameras, while also a candidate region upon the range image obtained based on the selected region is set, and the shape of the staircase or other polyhedron is recognized based on the set range image within the candidate region.

A method and a system of generating a video image sequence. According to one embodiment, the method includes positioning a plurality of camera systems relative to a scene such that the camera systems define a gross trajectory. The method further includes transforming images from the camera systems to superimpose a secondary induced motion on the gross trajectory. And the method includes displaying the transformed images in sequence corresponding to the position of the corresponding camera systems along the gross trajectory.

System and method for manipulating the point of interest in a sequence of images

A method and a system of generating an image sequence of an object within a scene. According to one embodiment, the method includes capturing an image (images I) of the object with a plurality of camera systems, wherein the camera systems are positioned around the scene. Next, the method includes 2D projective transforming certain of the images (I) such that a point of interest in each of the images is at a same position as a point of interest in a first image (I) from one of the camera systems. The method further includes outputting the transformed images (I) and the first image (I) in a sequence corresponding to a positioning of the corresponding camera systems around the scene.

System and method for stabilizing rotational images

A system and method for servoing on a moving target within a dynamic scene. According to one embodiment, the system includes a master variable pointing camera system and a plurality of slave variable pointing camera systems positioned around the scene. The system also includes a master control unit in communication with the master variable pointing camera system. The master control unit is for determining, based on parameters of the master variable pointing camera system, parameters for each of the slave variable pointing camera systems such that, at a point in time, the master variable pointing camera system and the slave variable pointing camera systems are aimed at the target and a size of the target in an image from each of the master variable pointing camera system and the slave variable pointing camera systems is substantially the same. The system also includes a plurality of slave camera control units in communication with the master control unit. The slave camera control units are for controlling at least one of the slave variable pointing camera systems based on the parameters for each of the slave variable pointing camera systems. The system may also include a video image sequence generator in communication with the master control unit and the slave camera control units. The video image sequence generator may generate a video image sequence of the target by outputting an image from certain of the master variable pointing camera system and the slave variable pointing camera systems in sequence according to the position of the master variable pointing camera system and the slave variable pointing camera systems around the scene.

System and method for servoing on a moving fixation point within a dynamic scene

In the apparatus for searching corresponding points between an input image and a reference image, a reference image and an input image are received through an image input section. The division process section produces a reference partial image and an input partial image. The similarity degree image production section respectively produces similarity degree images whose similarity degree between the reference partial image and the input partial image. The accumulation-addition processing section recursively performs an accumulation-addition of a plurality of similarity degrees. Based on the result, the corresponding points determination section determines the corresponding points between the input image and the reference image.

Method of and apparatus for searching corresponding points between images, and computer program

An object finder program for detecting presence of a 3D object in a 2D image containing a 2D representation of the 3D object. The object finder uses the wavelet transform of the input 2D image for object detection. A pre-selected number of view-based detectors are trained on sample images prior to performing the detection on an unknown image. These detectors then operate on the given input image and compute a quantized wavelet transform for the entire input image. The object detection then proceeds with sampling of the quantized wavelet coefficients at different image window locations on the input image and efficient look-up of pre-computed log-likelihood tables to determine object presence. The object finder's coarse-to-fine object detection strategy coupled with exhaustive object search across different positions and scales results in an efficient and accurate object detection scheme. The object finder detects a 3D object over a wide range in angular variation (e.g., 180 degrees) through the combination of a small number of detectors each specialized to a small range within this range of angular variation.
