A CO sensor includes a solid electrolyte substrate, a sensing electrode, and a reference electrode, and outputs electromotive forces in accordance with CO concentrations. The sensing electrode and the reference electrode are provided on the same surface of the solid electrolyte substrate. The sensing electrode contains a metal oxide such as BiOthat generates a positive electromotive force response when coming into contact with CO. The reference electrode contains a metal oxide such as CeOthat generates a negative electromotive force response when coming into contact with CO.

A producing method for producing zirconia hollow particles in which a zirconia powder mutually combines to form a porous shell layer thereby constructing a hollow structure, the method being characterized in mixing under a pressurized contact a resin powder and a zirconia powder of a grain size smaller than that of the resin powder, thereby forming a precursor by covering a surface of the resin powder with the zirconia powder in a partially embedded state, and calcining the precursor to expel the resin powder and to mutually sinter the zirconia powder.

Producing method for zirconia hollow particles

A method of producing hollow alumina particles in which the grain size of hollow alumina particles is controlled and in which a high formation ratio of hollow particles is obtained while suppressing the formation of solid particles. The method includes irradiating supersonic waves to an aqueous solution containing aluminum nitrate or aluminum acetate, and a surfactant or an organic acid to generate micro-liquid droplets in an atomized state, introducing only minute liquid droplets having a certain grain size or less, which have been classified by an air stream, into a furnace and burning them in air.
