A coaxial starting motor comprises a d.c. motor whose armature has a hollow rotary shaft projected at its end forwardly, and which has a rear end provided with an electromagnetic switch which is arranged to be coaxial therewith, and which has a movable core attracted by a fixed core on energizing an exciting coil to forwardly move a movable rod with the movable core and causing a movable contact supported by the movable rod to get in touch with a fixed contact wherein the electromagnetic switch has a fixed core partitioning a contact chamber and a movable core chamber so as to prevent contact powder from entering the movable core chamber and hamper the sliding motion of the movable core.

Coaxial starting motor

A D.C. rotary electric machine comprises an armature winding having a plurality of unit coils shifted from each other by a predetermined electrical angle and a commutator having a plurality of commutator segments. Each unit coil includes a pair of coil sides and is connected between two commutator segments. The unit coils are positioned with respect to the commutator segments so that an axial line passing through the midpoint between the pair of coil sides of each unit coil is circumferentially advanced by a predetermined angle with respect to an axial line passing through the midpoint between the commutator segments to which the coil unit is connected.

An electromagnetic switch for a starter motor is disclosed in which powder produced by friction from repeated opening and closing of the stationary and movable contacts is prevented from entering in between the sliding parts of the movable iron core assembly, thus ensuring the smooth sliding motion of the movable iron core assembly at all times, and in which the penetration of external water into the space defined by the stationary and movable iron cores and the shaft member is effectively prevented thereby to avoid various troubles resulting therefrom.

Electromagnetic switch

An automatic starter for a vehicle equipped with an automatic transmission with which excessively abrupt starting of the engine of the vehicle is inhibited. The automatic starter includes an accelerator pedal having first and second accelerator pedal members. The first accelerator pedal member is attached to the second accelerator pedal member through a returning elastic member so as to be biased apart. A rod extends downwardly from the second accelerator pedal member through the first accelerator pedal member with the lower end of the rod forming the operating element of a solenoid. The two accelerator pedal members carry contacts which are closed when the second accelerator pedal member is depressed downwardly against the first accelerator pedal member. Upon the starting of the vehicle, the solenoid is energized to hold the two accelerator pedal members together.

Automatic starter

An engine starter comprises a d.c. motor, a pinion secured to one end of the rotary shaft of the d.c. motor, a rotary flange having a ring gear which is always interlocked with the pinion to be driven, a flywheel which is on one hand, connected to the rotary flange through rotational force one-way coupling clutch and is, on the other hand, firmly secured to the crank shaft of the engine, an air motor connected to the other end of the rotary shaft of the d.c. motor and an air tank communicated to the air motor through a piping, an electromagnetic valve being interposed in the piping.

A starting device comprises a first power transmitting device connected to a crank shaft of the engine of a car, a compressor driven by a power output from the first power transmitting device, an air motor whose rotary shaft is driven by feeding compressed air of the compressor through an air reservoir via an air feeding tube, a valve device placed in the air feeding tube, a second power transmitting device installed between the rotary shaft and the crank shaft, a stopping device for stopping the engine when a burden of the engine disappears during car driving, and a controlling device which causes the air motor to actuate by opening the valve device at the time of restarting the engine to control starting of the crank shaft through the second power transmitting device.
