A fire alarm having in a single unit a battery and a fire detecting section energized by the battery to detect abnormal environmental conditions such as heat and smoke to provide an output signal. A voltage decrement detecting section detects a voltage decrement of the battery to provide an output signal. A warning unit such as a buzzer is coupled to a switching circuit for operating the warning unit upon reception of the output signal from either the fire detecting section or the voltage decrement detecting section through an input terminal thereof. To reduce power consumption, the system uses a multivibrator having C-MOS IC, inverters. The output of the voltage decrement detecting section is connected to a control input terminal of the switching circuit and external connection terminals and the output of the fire detecting section are connected to the control input terminal of the switching circuit through diodes, adapted to prevent the influence of the output signal of the voltage decrement detecting section.

Fire alarm system

A power supply device which boosts and stabilizes the voltage of a dc power supply includes an oscillator circuit connected to the dc power supply, a voltage multiplying rectifier circuit which rectifies the output of the oscillator circuit and boosts the voltage and an oscillator control circuit which monitors the boosted voltage and stabilizes the boosted voltage by on-off control of the oscillator circuit. The voltage multiplying rectifier circuit includes a voltage storage element, such as a capacitor connected in parallel with the load driven by the power-supply device. When the output voltage of the device exceeds a predetermined reference voltage, the oscillator control circuit turns the oscillator circuit off. The voltage storage element is thus no longer supplied with electric energy and begins to discharge through the load thereby lowering the output voltage of the device. When the ouput voltage falls below the predetermined reference voltage the oscillator control circuit turns the oscillator circuit on again to repeat the voltage stabilization cycle.

Power-supply device which boosts and stabilizes the voltage

The present invention is a single station type ionization smoke sensor which operates on a dc battery having a voltage lower than the voltage of about 9 volts usually needed for operation of ionization-type smoke sensors. The smoke sensor of the present invention includes a voltage booster means for boosting the battery voltage, a voltage detector means which detects when the boosted voltage falls below a predetermined value and an alarm energization means which energizes an alarm when an ionization type smoke detector means detects combustion products or when the voltage detector means detects a drop in the boosted voltage below the predetermined voltage.

In apparatus for picking up a pulse shaped signal current flowing through a signal line for operating a remotely located relay, a pickup coil is wound on a magnetic core linking the signal line and the voltage induced in the pickup coil is applied to a high resistance or a programmable unijunction transistor having a high input impedance. The output of the unijunction transistor is applied to the gate electrode of a thyristor while at the same time the discharge current of a capacitor is passed through the gate electrode of the thyristor via the unijunction transistor thereby assuring positive triggering of the thyristor. The capacitor is also used to prevent misoperation of the programmable unijunction transistor caused by the variation in the source voltage while the transistor is maintained OFF.
