Disclosed is an H.264 codec IC including: a first interface to which a value of an STC obtained at a timing synchronous with a vertical synchronizing signal is inputted from an external part; a second interface to which the vertical synchronizing signal is inputted from the external part; a comparing circuit which compares at a timing synchronous with the inputted vertical synchronizing signal a value of a PTS included in an input data stream with the inputted value of the STC; and a decoding circuit which updates and outputs a decoded result when the result of the comparison in the comparing circuit shows that the value of the STC is equal to or larger than the value of the PTS, and also disclosed are a DVD playback apparatus that uses such an IC and an H.264 codec method.

In a super density optical disk for storing video data, wherein video data is compressed to packs defined in MPEG and trains of the packs are stored in a video object unit. The video object unit includes a navigation pack which is placed at the head of the pack train. In a data cell, a plurality of video object units, each being reproduced within a predetermined period, are arranged and a cell playback information table describes a cell playback information which defines a playback order of the cells. The navigation pack has an area storing playback information for reproducing each video object unit and search information for indicating the relationship with other video object units. The data cells and the cell playback information table are stored in the optical disk.

A one-chip fuzzy processing apparatus is constituted by integrating a grade calculation circuit for obtaining the grades of IF part membership functions corresponding to a variable value, a THEN part membership function generator for generating THEN part membership functions, a combining circuit for modifying the THEN part membership functions, and combining the modified membership functions, and a defuzzify circuit for defuzzifying the output from the combining circuit. The combining circuit includes a circuit for obtaining a minimum value of grades of the IF part membership functions for each fuzzy rule, a circuit for comparing an obtained minimum value with a THEN part membership function for each fuzzy rule to cut a peak of the THEN part membership function, and a maximum processor for combining the THEN part membership functions by obtaining a maximum value of the modified THEN part membership functions.
