A coordinate input device and a touch panel device determine a correction value with a plurality of output values obtained from a plurality of sensors arranged in a touch panel based on the output value of a 1st peak sensor that outputs the largest output value, the output value of a 2nd peak sensor having the second largest output value, the output value of a 3rd peak sensor having the third largest output value, and the output value of a 4th peak sensor having the fourth largest output value.

A sign recognition device includes a sign effective range data recording unit for prestoring effective range conditions shown by a sign and an auxiliary sign, a sign recognition unit for recognizing a sign and an auxiliary sign by using a captured image of a roadway in front of a vehicle, a vehicle information acquiring unit for acquiring vehicle information, a map information acquiring unit for acquiring map information about a map of an area surrounding the vehicle, and a sign effective range determining unit for determining whether or not the vehicle is staying in the effective range specified with the sign and the auxiliary sign which have been recognized by the sign recognition unit by using the effective range conditions stored in the sign effective range data recording unit, the vehicle information, and the map information.

A handwriting verification device includes: a normalizing section for normalizing an inputted handwriting which has been subjected to sampling at regular intervals; a registered handwriting dictionary in which registered handwriting is accommodated; a correspondence making section for making the inputted handwriting, which has been normalized in accordance with the sampling points in the sampling, correspond to the registered handwriting, so that a portion of the inputted handwriting and a portion of the registered hand writing, which coincide with each other, can be made to correspond to each other; a segment making section for making the inputted handwriting and the registered handwriting to be a segment by allotting an interval between at least two continuous sampling points as a segment in accordance with the result of making correspondence; a characteristic extracting section for extracting the characteristics of the inputted handwriting and the registered handwriting for each segment; and a handwriting verification section for verification the inputted handwriting with the registered handwriting using the characteristic of each segment.
