An elevator rope includes: an inner layer rope; an inner layer covering body of resin and covering the outer periphery of the inner layer rope; an outer layer located in the outer periphery of the inner layer covering body; and an outer layer covering body of a high-friction resin material and covering the outer periphery of the outer layer. The inner layer rope has inner layer strands. The outer layer has outer layer strands and adhesive layers glued to the outer periphery of the outer layer strands. The inner layer strands have exposed portions partially exposed through the outer periphery of the inner layer covering body, with the exposed portions being in direct contact with the outer layer.

Rope for elevator and method for manufacturing the rope

A self-propelled elevator in which a drum type winding machine is attached to a cage, and the cage is elevated along guide rails arranged in a hoistway by a first winding rope, one end of which is fixed to a top portion of the hoistway and the other end portion of which is directly wound round a winding drum sheave of the drum type winding machine. In the self-propelled elevator, the drum type winding machine is attached to a lower side of a bottom portion of the cage so that an end face of the winding drum sheave around which the first winding rope is wound is located outside an area produced by projection of the cage.

Self propelled elevator

In an elevator apparatus, a hoisting machine having a drum is disposed on a bottom portion of a hoistway. The hoisting machine is within a car projection region obtained by a projection of the car along the hoistway and a portion of the drum is disposed outside the car projection region. A return pulley around which a hoisting rope is wound is disposed between the car projection region and the hoistway wall with a rotary shaft perpendicular to the hoistway wall. At least a portion of the return pulley is located at a height between the hoistway wall and the car when the car is at an uppermost position.

A non-box-counterweight apparatus for a traction type elevator has a counterweight-side hoisting rope and a counterweight-side compensating rope with a total weight between about three and seven times the weight of the maximum cage load. The weight of the counterweight-side ropes serves a counterweighting function, and a guided box-type counterweight is unnecessary.

Counterweight apparatus for a traction-type elevator

A brake unit for an elevator hoist apparatus for use with an electric motor output shaft includes a brake disc mounted to the motor output shaft and a pair of brake arm assemblies each having a spring-biased pivotable brake arm and a brake shoe attached to one end of the brake arm for frictional engagment with the brake disc. The electromagnetic actuator is connected to the other end of the brake arms for separating the brake shoes from the brake disc against the braking springs. Each brake spring is a coil spring having a longitudinal axis extending parallel to the motor output shaft, whereby the brake unit can be made compact.

Brake unit for an elevator hoist apparatus

An elevator hoist apparatus with an outer rotor motor includes a support structure, a sheave rotatably mounted on the support structure, and an electric motor mounted on the support structure for driving the sheave. The motor includes a stator fixedly mounted on the support structure, a motor frame mounted only to the sheave for rotation therewith, and a rotor mounted to the frame in an electromagnetically inductive relationship with the stator. The support structure comprises a pair of pedestals and an elongated support member supported at its opposite ends by the pedestals for supporting the sheave and the stator.

Elevator hoist apparatus with an outer rotor motor

A main rope is wound round a sheave and a deflector wheel by three turns, and the sectional shape of those rope grooves of the sheave with which the main rope is held in engagement is formed in the shape of circular arcs, whereby the lifetimes of the main rope and the sheave are lengthened, and an enhanced traction ability is attained. Among the grooves of the driving sheave around which the main rope is wound, those except the grooves around which the main rope is wound first and last are shaped so as to afford greater friction at contact therebetween than the frictional contact of the first and last grooves, or the grooves around which the main rope is wound first and last are rendered higher in hardness than the other grooves, whereby the amounts of wear of the respective grooves are equalized to extend the lifetimes of the rope and the sheave and to prevent the pleasant ride of an elevator from worsening.

Traction type elevator system

A traction elevator apparatus characterized in that a deflector wheel is disposed in a manner to lie below a driving sheave, and that a rope wound on the driving sheave is extended over the deflector wheel in a manner to cause the cage side and balance weight side parts of the rope to cross each other on the lower side of the driving sheave.
