An image processor includes a hue region judging section judging which one of a plurality of hue regions corresponds to a hue and a converting section obtaining a correction value by using the hue to correct the hue based on the correction value. The converting section obtains a first difference value by using a difference between the hue and a first reference value, obtains a second difference value by using a difference between a second reference value and the first difference value, and obtains the correction value by using the second difference value. The hue is corrected based on the correction value.

An image display control device calculates a lighting luminance after reduction in luminance and an image correction coefficient by real-time calculations of a common calculator. The common calculator is controlled by microcodes stored in a code table. When correcting an image, chroma correction is enhanced to suppress a decrease in chroma due reduction in luminance, and a flicker is prevented by series infinite impulse response (IIR) filtering processes. When the image has a low average luminance but has a high chroma, a decrease in chroma is suppressed by limiting a reduction in lighting luminance.

Image display control device

An image display control device includes a statistical information acquisition section that quickly acquires statistical information of a video image. In the statistical information acquisition section, an image signal of a video image is parallelly input to each of a plurality of statistical value units (EXto EX) having an identical configuration to simultaneously update a luminance count value. A luminance maximum value/minimum value detector and a standard deviation calculation section respectively calculate a luminance maximum value/minimum value and a standard deviation value at high speed based on the count values. Statistical information relating to chroma is also acquired by providing a luminance total value unit (ES(Y)), a blue chroma total value unit (ES(Cb)), and a red chroma total value unit (ES(Cr)) having an identical configuration. The supply of an operation clock signal to each circuit is suspended using a gate circuit, if necessary.

An image display control device is capable of performing video image correction in real time. An effective pixel evaluation area Zcorresponding to one frame is set in a statistical information acquisition section. The statistical information acquisition section finishes a statistical value acquisition process after acquiring a statistical value of the effective pixel evaluation area Z, and calculation of a correction coefficient and the like using the statistical value is completed within the remaining time of the one frame period. When input of an image signal of the next frame is started, the image display control device performs image correction using the calculated correction coefficient. The image display control device can calculate a backlight luminance after reduction in luminance at the same time as the correction coefficient.
