An apparatus includes a printing unit which is disposed in a housing and configured to form an image on a sheet, an lid attached to the housing by a hinge mechanism, and a camera which is attached to the lid and configured to read an image on a document while the lid is open, wherein the sheet having the image formed by the printing unit is discharged on the lid, and when the lid is opened, the camera can read the document which is placed at a reading position below the camera.

Image forming apparatus

An image forming apparatus includes a printing section, a flatbed scanner section configured to read an original on a reading surface, and a moving mechanism configured to change the angle of the reading surface relative to an installation plane on which the apparatus is installed. The scanner section is capable of performing reading in each of a first mode where the angle of the reading surface is a first angle (vertical) and a second mode where the angle of the reading surface is a second angle (horizontal) different from the first angle.

A display unit includes a slide mechanism slidable in a lateral or vertical direction to a housing. A maintenance opening formed in the housing can be covered and uncovered. When the opening is uncovered, a user can access at least apart of a print section in the housing from the opening and perform maintenance.

A recording device for effecting recording on a recording material by a recording head, said recording device including a recording unit including a reciprocally movable carriage for carrying the recording head, a platen for supporting a recording material at a position opposed to said carriage, and a feeding roller, disposed upstream of said platen, for feeding the recording material, a recording chassis supporting said carriage, said platen and said feeding roller, and a sheet feeding unit including a feeding path for feeding the recording material to said feeding roller from a plurality of feeding portions, and a side chassis supporting said feeding path at both lateral sides with respect to a moving direction of the recording material, whereby said recording chassis of said recording unit and said side chassis of said sheet feeding unit are fixed to each other.

Recording apparatus

A sheet feeding apparatus includes a driving force transmitting member for transmitting a rotational driving force to a sheet feeding roller, first and second roller supporting members for supporting the sheet feeding roller. The sheet feeding apparatus further includes supporting portions for swingably supporting the first and second roller supporting members. The first and second roller supporting members are integrally movable with respect to a motion about the supporting portions and are independently movable with respect to a motion, at the supporting portions, about an axis normal to a sheet stacking surface.

A recording material conveying device is provided with a pair of rotational members for conveying a recording material, and for one of the rotational members, an escape portion is formed for an opening portion of a bearing hole thereof and that satisfies a condition of &#x3b1;&#x2266;&#x3b2;, where an angle formed by the axial core of the axial member supporting the rotational member and the center of the bearing hole for bearing the axial member is &#x3b1;, and an angle formed by the center of the bearing hole and the escape portion of the bearing hole is &#x3b2;. With the structure thus arranged, it becomes possible to prevent a recording material from being damaged or stained, or be otherwise adversely affected, by use of an expeller rotational member, while performing a stabilized conveyance of a recording material without increasing costs.

Recording material conveying device and ink jet recording apparatus using such device

An auto sheet feeder has sheet supporting means provided on the frame of the main body of the apparatus and supporting sheets thereon, and sheet feeding means for feeding out the sheets supported on the sheet supporting means. A reference surface for regulating one side edge of the sheets fed out by the sheet feeding means is formed on each of the frame and the sheet supporting means.

A recording apparatus includes a first determination unit for determining a position to start scanning of a recording head relative to a recording medium for each scanning operation during recording, based on recording data input by an input unit, a setting unit for setting a permissible region to start scanning in a next scanning operation, based on a position to start scanning in a preceding scanning operation, and a second determination unit for determining a position within the permissible region as a position to start scanning of the recording head by a scanning unit, when it has been determined that the position to start scanning for the next scanning operation is outside of the permissible region, based on a result of discrimination by the discrimination unit.

Printing apparatus and printing control method

Disclosed are a printing apparatus and a method of controlling printing through which highly precise printing can be performed without inviting an increase in production cost or in the size of the apparatus. In accordance with the control method, a printing starting position is decided based upon input print data whenever a printing medium undergoes one printing scan by a printhead. Whether or not the printing starting position decided falls within a predetermined range is discriminated. If it has been discriminated that the printing starting position falls within the predetermined range, the scanning starting position of the printhead scanned by the carriage is set to a position spaced a predetermined first distance away from one end of a range within which printing can be performed on the printing medium. If it has been discriminated that the printing starting position falls outside the predetermined range, the scanning starting position of the printhead is set to a position spaced a predetermined second distance away from the printing starting position. After the carriage to which the printhead is mounted has been moved to the set position, printing is performed by moving the carriage.

A recording apparatus is capable of making the scanning range of a carriage narrower without expanding the left and right recording blanks of a recording material, and further, making the apparatus smaller without lowering the quality of recorded images, as well as enhancing the throughput thereof. To provide such apparatus, it is arranged to control the traveling speeds of a recording head in recording areas, and then, to determine the traveling speeds thereof in accordance with the distance between the stop position and the position to start recording, the distance between the position to terminate recording and the stop position, as well as with the contents to be recorded on a given line, among others.

Recording apparatus and method for controlling scanning speeds of the recording head of such recording apparatus

A recording apparatus capable of making the image formation without reduction in recording quality is embodied. The recording apparatus comprises holding means for detachably holding a recording head for forming image on the recording medium, and positioning means for positioning the recording head at a predetermined position of the holding means in mounting the recording head on said holding means, characterized in that the positioning means has a first fitting meand for restraining the recording head in a first direction, and a second fitting means for restraining the recording head in a second direction, wherein restraining means is provided for fitting the second fitting means prior to the first fitting means in mounting the recording head on the holding means.

A recording apparatus is capable of preventing both contamination on a recording surface due to a contact of a recording medium on an ink discharging surface even when recording on the recording medium with a concave/convex portion and an ill-discharged state of an ink. The recording apparatus has a feeding unit for feeding a recording medium and a recording head as a recording unit for recording an image on the recording medium fed by the feeding unit. A first guide member (shaft) and a second guide member that serve as a correcting mechanism are provided upstream in a feeding direction from the recording head, for correcting the concave/convex portion of the recording medium.
