An image display device includes a display panel, a space portion, an illuminator, a controller, and an illuminance sensor. The display panel is switchable between an image display mode in which an image is displayed and a transmissive mode in which the display panel is in a transmissive state where a back side of the display panel is visible in a front view. The space portion and the illuminator are provided behind the display panel. The illuminator emits illumination light to the space portion. The controller controls the illuminator. The illuminance sensor detects an ambient illuminance of the image display device. The controller performs illumination control for causing the illuminator to emit illumination light with a brightness that is in accordance with a result of detection by the illuminance sensor when the display panel is operating in the transmissive mode.

Image display device and method of controlling image display device

A video display device includes: a display panel that displays an image based on an input image signal; a light source substrate that includes a plurality of light sources on a main surface which is a front side of the light source substrate, and emits, toward a rear side of the display panel, light emitted from the plurality of light sources; a reflection sheet that is provided on the main surface of the light source substrate, and in which hollow partitioning walls each of which separates adjacent two light sources of the plurality of light sources are formed; and an optical member that has a plate shape, is provided between the display panel and the light source substrate, and uniformizes luminance distribution of the light emitted from the light source substrate. The reflection sheet extends to an outside of an outer peripheral edge of the optical member as viewed from the front side.

Video display device

A video display device includes: a display panel that displays an image based on an input image signal; a light source substrate that includes a plurality of light sources on a main surface which is a front side of the light source substrate, and emits, toward a rear side of the display panel, light emitted from the plurality of light sources; a reflection sheet that is provided on the main surface of the light source substrate, and in which hollow partitioning walls each of which separates adjacent two light sources of the plurality of light sources are formed; an optical member that is provided between the display panel and the light source substrate, and uniformizes luminance distribution of the light emitted from the light source substrate; and support members each of which is provided between the light source substrate and the optical member, and supports the optical member. The reflection sheet includes intersection portions where the partitioning walls formed in a first direction and the partitioning walls formed in a second direction crossing the first direction cross each other, and further includes linear portions formed in parallel with the first direction or the second direction. Each of the support members is disposed in a recess portion formed in a corresponding linear portion.

A video display device includes a liquid crystal display panel, and light source substrates configured to illuminate the liquid crystal display panel from a rear side of the liquid crystal display panel. Each of the light source substrates includes a plurality of light emitting diodes each of which is provided in corresponding one of areas different from each other in the liquid crystal display panel, and driver elements which drive each of the plurality of light emitting diodes such that light is emitted with luminance corresponding to brightness within a corresponding area of an image in accordance with a control signal. First conductive foil is disposed on a first main surface of the light source substrate on which the light emitting diodes are provided. Second conductive foil is disposed on a second main surface of the light source substrate on a side opposite to the first main surface. Ground pattern foil is disposed as the second conductive foil on the second main surface in regions each of which includes a corresponding one of the plurality of light emitting diodes in a plan view. The first conductive foil and the second conductive foil have a substantially equivalent area.

Image display device

A video display device includes a liquid crystal display panel, and a plurality of light source substrates configured to illuminate the liquid crystal display panel from a rear side of the liquid crystal display panel. Each of the plurality of light source substrates includes a signal input connector that receives a control signal, a plurality of light emitting diodes each of which is provided in correspondence with a corresponding one of areas different from each other in the liquid crystal display panel, a driver element that drives each of the plurality of light emitting diodes in accordance with the control signal such that each of the plurality of light emitting diodes emits light with luminance corresponding to brightness of the corresponding area of an image, and a signal output connector that through-outputs the control signal. The signal output connector of a first light source substrate included in the plurality of light source substrates, and the signal input connector of a second light source substrate included in the plurality of light source substrates are electrically connected.

Image display device including multiple light source substrates

A video display device includes: a display panel that displays an image based on an image signal; a light source substrate disposed on a rear side of the display panel; a plurality of light emitting elements each of which is attached to a surface of the light source substrate on a side toward the display panel to emit light to the display panel; a reflection sheet; and driver elements that drive each of the plurality of light emitting elements. Partitioning wall portions are formed in the reflection sheet, each of partitioning wall portions separates adjacent ones of the light emitting elements, and expands toward the display panel. The reflection sheet covers the surface of the light source substrate on the side toward the display panel except for portions provided with the light emitting elements. Each of the driver elements is attached to the surface of the light source substrate on the side toward the display panel in a portion surrounded by the corresponding partitioning wall portions.

An image display apparatus includes: a display panel; an LED substrate disposed on a back surface side of the display panel and on which an LED is mounted; a relay substrate disposed on the back surface side and on which a circuit unit is mounted; a first metal member disposed on the LED substrate and electrically connected with the LED; a second metal member disposed on the relay substrate, electrically connected with the circuit unit; and a reflective sheet that is electrically insulative and disposed between the display panel and both of the LED substrate and the relay substrate so as to cover at least the first metal member and the second metal member, the reflective sheet reflecting light from the LED toward a back surface of the display panel. When the first metal member and the second metal member are fitted with each other, an index hole is covered.

Image display apparatus

A video display device includes a display panel that displays an image based on an image signal, and a light source substrate disposed on a rear side of the display panel. The light source substrate includes a plurality of light emitting elements disposed on a surface of the light source substrate on a side toward the display panel, and a plurality of driver elements that are disposed on the same surface of the light source substrate as the surface to which the plurality of light emitting elements are attached, and drive each of the plurality of light emitting elements.
