An eyeball movement detection device () detects an eyeball movement of an eye in a side-to-side direction on the basis of a time shift in difference between an output from a far-infrared sensor () having directivity to an edge of an exposed surface of an eyeball on the side of the inner corner of the eye and an output from a far-infrared sensor () having directivity to an edge of the exposed surface of the eyeball on the side of the outer corner of the eye. This makes it possible to detect an eyeball movement in a noncontact manner, with a light weight, and with low power consumption.

A jack () of the invention includes a holding body () having an insertion hole () into which an optical plug is able to be inserted, a window material () through which infrared radiation passing through the insertion hole () is transmitted, and a light reception unit () which detects infrared radiation of 6 &#x3bc;m or more and 15 &#x3bc;m or less transmitted through the window material (). The window material () is provided in the holding body () so as to prevent water from intruding into the light reception unit (), and arranged at a bottom of the insertion hole (). Thereby, it is possible to give a waterproof property to an element which receives infrared radiation without limitation to design or aesthetic appearance of an electronic apparatus.

At least a plurality of light-receiving regions for receiving remote control signals, respectively, in a form of incident light and performing photoelectric conversion of the signals are provided in one common mold package. In an optical transmit-receive module, an optical fiber plug connected with an optical fiber for optical transmission is removably inserted in a housing. Within the housing, there are provided a branching type light guide, and an optical semiconductor device giving an optical signal to the branching type light guide and receiving an optical signal from the branching type light guide. When the optical fiber plug is inserted in the housing, it is optically connected with the branching type light guide through a light-permeable member having a refractive index approximately equal to refractive indices of the optical fiber and the branching type light guide.

An optical transmission and receiving module includes a light source; a light receiving element; and a light branching element for causing signal light from the light source to be incident on an optical fiber and causing signal light output from the optical fiber to be incident on the light receiving element. The light branching element includes a prism array including a plurality of triangular prisms arranged at substantially an identical pitch on a plane extending substantially perpendicular to an imaginary line connecting the light source and the light receiving element.

A plug-jack type transfer device includes: at least seven electric terminals for connecting a mini single-head electric plug to the transfer device and exchanging an electrical signal therewith; a container body for containing and supporting the electric terminals and receiving the mini single-head electric plug; and a switch mechanism which completes electrical connection between a fourth electric terminal and a sixth electric terminal when the mini single-head electric plug is inserted into the container body. The first, fourth, and fifth electric terminals are coupled to a power level via respective resistors, and the sixth and the seventh electric terminals are grounded.
