A control device of a leaning vehicle for controlling bright lighting and dim lighting for a plurality of oblique areas. When the leaning vehicle is upright, the control device controls the lighting by designating one or more of the plurality of oblique areas as in a brightly lit area to which adaptive lighting control is applied, and by designating the other oblique areas as in a dim area. The dim area includes an uppermost oblique area. When the leaning vehicle turns left or right, as a lean angle in a direction of the turn increases, the control device controls the lighting by designating a second uppermost oblique area that is located immediately below the uppermost oblique area in the up-down direction as in the brightly lit area, and moving the uppermost oblique area from the dim area to the brightly lit area.

Headlight device and leaning vehicle

A headlight device includes a headlight and a control device. The headlight includes a plurality of light sources that is configured to light one or more left oblique areas located in the ahead-driving direction of the leaning vehicle on the left, one or more right oblique areas located in the ahead-driving direction of the leaning vehicle on the right, and one or more lower areas located in the ahead-driving direction of the leaning vehicle. The control device controls the headlight to light at least the left oblique areas and the right oblique areas based on adaptive lighting control. At least one of the left oblique areas and at least one of the right oblique areas that are lit based on the adaptive lighting control spread more outwardly in a left-right direction than any of the lower areas.

A headlight device including a headlight configured to emit light frontward of a leaning vehicle to form a lower light beam, an upper central light beam, an upper left light beam and an upper right light beam, and a control device that controls light emission from the headlight without any user operation. The control device forms both the upper left and the upper right light beams while the leaning vehicle is traveling straight, and reduces a brightness of the upper left and upper right light beams, responsive to a vehicle being illuminated by the upper left and upper right light beams respectively, and forms the upper left and upper right light beams respectively while the leaning vehicle is turning left and right, and maintains the brightness of the formed upper left or upper right light beam regardless of whether any vehicle is illuminated by the upper left or upper right light beam.

Headlight device and leaning vehicle including headlight device

A leaning vehicle or a straddled vehicle, including a vehicle body, a light source unit, a light using device, an optical fiber cable, an electrical power supply unit, a plurality of electrical units, and an electrical cable. The vehicle body includes a seat and a body cover. The optical fiber cable has a supported portion disposed along, and supported by, a trunk portion of the electrical cable, and an upstream portion connecting the light source unit and the supported portion without being supported by the trunk portion. The supported portion and the upstream portion are partially disposed within an in-body covered region, which is at least one of a region closer to a vehicle center than an outermost surface of the body cover is, or a region positioned further in a downward direction than an uppermost portion of the seat is, both being invisible from an outside of the vehicle.

Vehicle

A vehicle having: a vehicle body; a plurality of light-emitting parts; a light source configured to output a laser beam to the light-emitting parts; a fiber optic cable that constitutes a part of a laser beam path, the fiber optic cable having a most upstream branch portion; a single shared laser driver board controlling laser beam source elements in the single light source; and at least one laser light-emission-manner converter, each disposed in, or downstream of, the most upstream branch portion, to thereby cause each light-emitting part downstream from said each light-emission-manner converter to change a light-emission manner thereof. The laser light-emission-manner converter and/or the single shared laser driver board are at least partially disposed in an in-body covered region, which is disposed further downward than, and in a plan view of the vehicle overlaps, any of a fuel tank, a dummy tank, a foot board, and a seat.

A vehicle that is the leaning vehicle or the straddled vehicle includes a fiber optic cable extending from a laser beam source unit to both a forward light-emitting part and a rearward light-emitting part via a forward-rearward branch portion, the fiber optic cable allowing a laser beam emitted from the laser beam source unit to be branched in the forward-rearward branch portion, and then supplied to both the forward light-emitting part and the rearward light-emitting part. A length of the fiber optic cable between the laser beam source unit and the forward-rearward branch portion is shorter than a total length of the fiber optic cable between the forward-rearward branch portion and the forward light-emitting part and between the forward-rearward branch portion and the rearward light-emitting part in a side view of the vehicle.

Vehicle with centralized laser beam source

A low-beam-color-temperature-variable headlight unit includes a case, a condenser lens, a high-color-temperature light emitting diode, a low-color-temperature light emitting diode, and a low-beam-color-temperature control unit. The high-color-temperature light emitting diode emits high-color-temperature light. The high-color-temperature light emitting diode provides illumination of a first illuminated area. The low-color-temperature light emitting diode provides illumination of a second illuminated area that overlaps the first illuminated area at least partly. The low-color-temperature light emitting diode emits low-color-temperature light having a lower color temperature than the high-color-temperature light. The low-beam-color-temperature control unit is capable of adjusting the color temperature of the low beam by adjusting the quantity of light emitted from the high-color-temperature light emitting diode and the quantity of light emitted from the low-color-temperature light emitting diode.

Low-beam-color-temperature-variable headlight unit

An increase in the size of a body section of a straddled vehicle forward of a steering shaft in a left-right direction and a front-rear direction of a body frame is limited while a space is secured forward of the steering shaft. In left optical lens bodyL, top end TE is disposed below bottom edge Bof handlebar, bottom end BE is disposed above a bottom end (virtual line Lc) of lower bracket, left end LE is disposed on the right of a right end (virtual line L) of left gripL, and right end RE is disposed on the left of right edge Bof left front-wheel support unitL. Straddled vehicle

An increase in the size of a body portion of a straddled vehicle forward of a steering shaft in a left-right direction and a front-rear direction of a body frame is suppressed to secure a space forward of the steering shaft. Each top end of left optical lens bodyL and right optical lens bodyR is located below top edge Bof an upper bracket in an up-down direction of the body frame. Each bottom end of left optical lens bodyL and right optical lens bodyR is located above bottom edge Bof a lower bracket in the up-down direction of the body frame. The left end of left optical lens bodyL is located on the right of left edge Bof a left front-wheel support unit in the left-right direction of the body frame. The right end of left optical lens bodyL is located on the right of right edge Bof the left front-wheel support unit in the left-right direction of the body frame. The left end of right optical lens bodyR is located on the left of left edge Bof a right front-wheel support unit in the left-right direction of the body frame. A predefined length between first and second optical lens sections and of the first and second highly-directional light units is smaller than a length, which is half of a length between a left end of a lower portion of a left front-wheel support unit and a right end of a lower portion of a right front-wheel support unit in the left-right direction of a vehicle, and the predefined length is greater than half a smaller one of minimum widths of the optical lens sections of the first and the second highly-directional light units. A configuration is adopted in which light radiated through the optical lens section of the first highly-directional light unit partially overlaps light radiated through the optical lens section of the second highly-directional light unit and the remaining part does not overlap.

A sub headlight unit for use in a vehicle that leans into turns includes a sub headlight light source that illuminates an area ahead and outward of the vehicle with respect to a width direction of the vehicle. The sub headlight light source is configured to, when the vehicle is in an upright state, produce an illumination range including an area above a horizontal plane. The sub headlight light source is turned on in accordance with a lean angle of the vehicle. At a time of parking or stopping or at a time of running straight ahead, the sub headlight light source is turned on or caused to flash with the amount of light per unit of time being reduced as compared with the amount of light per unit of time emitted when the sub headlight light source is turned on in accordance with the lean angle of the vehicle.
