Provided are an LNT layered catalyst for a lean burn gasoline engine having an enhanced NOx storage rate and capable of developing a higher NOx purification rate, and an exhaust gas purification apparatus using the same, the LNT layered catalyst including a substrate, a first catalyst layer including ceria-alumina particles carrying Pt, Pd, and BaO, and a second catalyst layer including ceria-alumina particles carrying Pt and Rh, in which a content of Pt in the first catalyst layer is 0.45 to 0.85 mass %; among Pt included in the first catalyst layer, a content proportion in a first depth region is 88 to 90 mass %, and a content proportion in a second depth region is 10 to 12 mass %; a content of Ba in the first catalyst layer is 4 to 11 mass %; and the second catalyst layer is substantially free from Ba.

LNT layered catalyst for lean burn gasoline engine and exhaust gas purification apparatus using the same

The invention discloses a catalyst for purifying exhaust gas apparatus having a Three-way Catalyst (TWC) superior in purification performance of, particularly, NO, among carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC), and nitrogen oxides (NO), in exhaust gas discharged from a gasoline automobile. It is provided by a catalyst for purifying exhaust gas containing a Rhodium (Rh)-loaded porous inorganic oxide and barium sulfate (BaSO), with loaded or not-loaded onto alumina. At least a part of Rh is present independently from Ba inside a catalyst layer, and Rh&#x2014;Ba deviation rate determined from EPMA analysis is 10% to 80%. It is preferable that loaded amount of Rhodium is 0.05 g/L to 2.0 g/L, and amount of barium sulfate is 0.5 g/L to 25 g/L and 0.5 g/L to 15 g/L, in the case of being loaded or not-loaded onto alumina, respectively.

Exhaust gas purifying catalyst

A denitration catalyst composition to efficiently and reductively remove nitrogen oxides from exhaust gas of a boiler or an internal combustion engine operated in lean-combustion, such as a gasoline engine, a diesel engine, by carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons; and a denitration method using the catalyst composition. In the denitration catalyst composition, a precious metal element having Rh as an essential component is supported on a zirconium oxide-based carrier formed by condensing or mixing primary particles having a zirconium oxide as a main component, and further a cerium-containing oxide (B) is present at the surface of the zirconium oxide-based carrier and at the gap of the secondary particles; and a denitration method characterized in that exhaust gas containing NO, CO and Ois contacted with the denitration catalyst composition, under oxidative atmosphere having an air/fuel ratio of 14.7 or higher, at a temperature of 400 to 800&#xb0; C.
