A power transmission belt having a load carrying band with a length, and a plurality of blocks attached to the load carrying band at preselected, spaced intervals along the length of the load carrying band. The plurality of blocks have a thickness (t), measured in a direction along the length of the load carrying band, and a width (W), measured in a direction transversely to the length of the load carrying band. Each of the plurality of blocks is made from synthetic resin material and has no shape-determining insert therein. The synthetic resin material is made from a synthetic resin having a bending modulus of 15 to 20 GPa. The ratio of t/W is from 0.11 to 0.20.

Power transmission belt

A power transmission belt having an endless body with a length, an inside, and an outside. The body has cogs on at least one of the inside and outside of the body and spaced along the length of the body so as to define alternating cog crests and cog troughs. The cog crests each have oppositely facing side surfaces with an apex between the oppositely facing side surfaces. There is a reinforcing fabric on the at least one of the inside and outside of the body. The reinforcing fabric has first and second spaced end portions with a first free end at the first end portion and a second free end at the second end portion. The first and second end portions overlap so that the first and second free ends are each at a side surface on a cog crest.

Power transmission belt and a method of forming a power transmission belt

A power transmission belt having a body with a length, a first side, a second side, and laterally spaced side surfaces. The body has cog crests and cog troughs in at least a first layer on the first side of the body and alternating the length of the body. The body further has at least one cushion rubber layer and at least one load carrying cord embedded in the at least one cushion rubber layer and extending lengthwise of the body between the cog crests and the second side of the body. The at least first layer has a first joint that is in a cog crest and does not extend into a cog trough. At least one cushion rubber layer is made from a first material, with the first material from the at least one cushion rubber layer not penetrating the first joint. The invention is also directed to a method of forming a belt of this type.

Power transmission belt and method of manufacturing the power transmission belt

A method of making a power transmission belt/belt sleeve, which method includes the step of providing a first mold assembly having a central axis and a circumference, providing a sheet material having first and second oppositely facing surfaces, placing the sheet material around the first mold assembly and causing a contoured portion of the first surface to be keyed to the first mold assembly so that the sheet material is in a predetermined circumferential position relative to the first mold assembly, providing a second mold assembly having a contoured surface, placing the contoured surface of the second mold assembly against the second surface of the sheet material, providing a guide element, operatively connecting the guide element between the first and second mold assemblies so that the guide element maintains the second mold assembly in a predetermined circumferential position relative to the first mold assembly, and forming the second surface of the sheet material through the contoured surface of the second mold assembly with the first and second mold assemblies and sheet material in an operative relationship. The contoured portion of the first surface of the sheet material can be pre-formed or formed in place on the first mold assembly.

Method and apparatus for producing a power transmission belt

A power transmission belt has a body with a) a cushion rubber layer and b) a compression rubber layer disposed on the cushion rubber layer. The cushion rubber layer has load carrying cords embedded therein and a first rubber composition including a hydrogenated nitrile rubber, an unsaturated carboxylic acid metal salt, silica, and inorganic peroxide. The compression rubber layer has a second rubber composition including a hydrogenated nitrile rubber, an unsaturated carboxylic acid metal salt, and an organic peroxide.
