The connected device information management module is configured to manage function information of an external device connected to the electronic device. The connected device information sending module is configured to send the function information of the external device to a portable terminal in response to a transmission request from the portable terminal. The operation state sending module is configured to send an operation state of the electronic device with respect to the external device in response to the transmission request from the portable terminal. The connected device operation module is configured to perform a functional operation of the external device specified by a request sent from the portable terminal.

A spoken dialogue apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a speech recognition unit, a retrieval unit, a calculation unit, and a selection unit. The speech recognition unit performs speech recognition of an input speech to obtain a recognition candidate. The retrieval unit updates a retrieval condition by use of the recognition candidate and outputs a retrieval result. The calculation unit calculates estimated numbers of data as costs concerning a first response and a second response based on the retrieval condition and the retrieval result. The selection unit selects a response having a lowest cost and presents the response to the user.

A natural language dialogue apparatus. A blank data memory stores blank data to blank a question element being a decision object for a value of truth or falsehood in a question to ask the value of truth or falsehood. If the input sentence is the question, a question data conversion section estimates the question element in the input sentence, and converts the input sentence to question data in which the question element is blanked by referring to the blank data memory. A problem solution section retrieves a solution for the question element blanked in the question data and generates a response in which an answer for the value of truth or falsehood is not included according to the solution.

Natural language dialogue apparatus and method

A hash dictionary stores identifiers of word-class sequences by unit of the word-class and appearance number. A node of each word in word-lattice includes the word-class, an interprocessing list, lists of next nodes and unprocessed antecedent nodes. The interprocessing list of the node directly linked from a start node stores the identifiers of word-class sequences for the word-class and the appearance number &ldquo;1&rdquo; in the hash dictionary. A list of processing nodes stores the nodes directly linked from the start node. A propagation section extracts one node from the list of processing nodes, extracts each next node of the one node from the list of next nodes, retrieves the identifiers of word-class sequences from the hash dictionary by the appearance number and the word-class of the each next node, respectively calculates a product of retrieved identifiers of the each next node and the identifiers in the interprocessing list of the one node, stores the product in the interprocessing list of the each next node, deletes the one node from the list of processing nodes, and adds the each next node in the list of processing nodes. This propagation process is repeated untill the list of processing nodes is empty.

Information analysis and method

In the multi-modal interface apparatus of the present invention, a gaze object detection section always detects a user's gaze object. The user inputs at least one medium of sound information, character information, image information and operation information through a media input section. In order to effectively input and output information between the user and the apparatus, a personified image presentation section presents a personified image to the user based on the user's gaze object. A control section controls a reception of the inputted media from the media input section based on the user's gaze object.
