In an embodiment of a steel sheet having high Young's modulus, the steel can include in terms of mass %, e.g., C: 0.0005 to 0.30%, Si: 2.3% or less, Mn: 2.7 to 5.0%, P: 0.15% or less, 0.015% or less, Mo: 0.15 to 1.5%, B: 0.0006 to 0.01%, and Al: 0.15% or less, with the remainder being Fe and unavoidable impurities. One or both of {110}&#x3c;223&#x3e; pole density and {110}&#x3c;111&#x3e; pole density in the &#x215b; sheet thickness layer can be 10 or more, and a Young's modulus in a rolling direction can be more than 230 GPa. Other embodiments can include, e.g., Mn: 0.1 to 5.0%, N: 0.01% or less, and one or more of Mo: 0.005 to 1.5%, Nb: 0.005 to 0.20%, Ti: at least 48/14&#xd7;N (mass %) and 0.2% or less, and B: 0.0001 to 0.01%, at a total content of 0.015 to 1.91 mass %.

Disclosed are a high-strength, high-toughness hot-pressed steel plate member and a manufacturing method therefor. A specified hot-press process is performed on a steel plate member that, with respect to the chemical composition of the steel plate, includes: 0.15 to 0.4 wt % of C; 1.0 to 5.0 wt % of Mn or of a total of Mn and at least one of Cr, Mo, Cu, and Ni; 0.02 to 2.0 wt % of at least any one of Si and Al; and the remainder being Fe and unavoidable impurities, thus providing the physical properties of a martensite phase average grain diameter of 5 &#x3bc;m or less and a tensile strength of 1200 MPa or higher.

The present invention provides a steel sheet excellent in workability, which may be used for components of an automobile or the like, and a method for producing the same. More specifically, according to one exemplary embodiment of the present invention, a steel sheet excellent in workability, including in mass, 0.08 to 0.25% C, 0.001 to 1.5% Si, 0.01 to 2.0% Mn, 0.001 to 0.06% P, at most 0.05% S, 0.001 to 0.007% N, 0.008 to 0.2% Al, at least 0.01% Fe. A silicon steel slab comprising 0.05 to 0.8% by weight of Mn and up to 0.014% by weight of S+0.405Se is heated at a temperature lower than 1280.degree. C. and hot-rolled under such conditions that the hot rolling-finish temperature is 700.degree. to 1150.degree. C., the cumulative reduction ratio at the final three passes is at least 40%, and the reduction ratio at the final pass is at least 20%, or this silicon steel slab is hot-rolled at a hot rolling-finish temperature of 750.degree. to 1150.degree. C. while adopting the above-mentioned reduction ratio according to need, is maintained at a temperature not lower than 700.degree.
