In a resin molded article (M), a wear-resistant surface layer () is provided on a surface of a base () made of a thermoplastic resin with an undercoat layer () being interposed therebetween, and the surface layer () has a composition containing silicon, oxygen, carbon, and hydrogen, a thickness of 0.02 &#x3bc;m or greater and 0.48 &#x3bc;m or less, and a density of greater than 1.5 g/cmor a hardness of 1.5 GPa or greater.

Resin molded articles

The present invention provides an oil pan with a built-in filtering element which does not easily receive influence of lateral swing of oil, which has high support rigidity of a filter, or which has excellent assembling operability of the filter, or which is light in weight as compared with a conventional oil pan. The oil pan Pwith a built-in filtering element has a filter. The filteris provided therein with an oil flow path Q which is in communication with an oil pump. The filterfilters oil flowing toward the oil pump. An oil flow path includes a bottom flow path Qb having a flow path wallextending along a bottom wallof the oil pan, and a side flow path Qs having a flow path wallextending along a first sidewallof the oil pan. The first sidewall includes a drain holewhich opens at the bottom flow path and through which the filter can be inserted into the bottom flow path. The bottom flow path is provided with a filter retaining portionwhich retains the inserted filter. The drain hole is provided with a plug fixing portionwhich fixes a closing plugof the drain hole. The closing plug is formed with a filter receiveragainst which a terminal endof the inserted filter is abutted.

Oil pan with built-in filtering element

A process for producing a sound absorber having skin layers constituting front and back surfaces and, interposed between the skin layers, a void layer having a plurality of pin formed holes, each hole having a depth which is enough to penetrate one of the skin layers and is not enough to reach the other skin layer. The sound absorber is formed of a resin material containing 2 to 60 wt % of reinforcing fibers with a length of 2 to 100 mm.

A cap has a pair of L-shaped, flexible engaging arms that extend, from the end of a cap body opposite to the direction of fitting, in the direction of fitting with a distance away from the cap body. The distal ends of the engaging arms are connected by a pair of flexible connecting bridges to surround the outer periphery of the cap body with a distance away therefrom. The cap body is fitted into a cylindrical part of a cylinder head cover and engaging projections of the pair of engaging arms are engaged with an engaging recess in the outer periphery of the cylindrical part. The engaging arms are flexed to get away from the outer periphery of the cylindrical part by pushing circumferentially middle parts of the connecting bridges to come close to each other, so that the engaging projections are disengaged from the engaging recess.

An inertia charge intake manifold is associated with an internal combustion engine having a plurality of cylinders. The intake manifold includes a plurality of elongated separate branch pipes each corresponding to a respective one of the cylinders. The intake manifold also includes a common flange for connecting a first end of each branch pipe to the internal combustion engine. The common flange has a first surface attached to the internal combustion engine. Further, the intake manifold includes a surge tank to which a second end of each branch pipe is connected. The common flange, the surge tank and each branch pipe are made of a hard thermoplastic synthetic resin. The common flange is integrally connected to the surge tank.

A method for joining thermoplastic resin molded products by pressing together joining surfaces of two molded products with electric resistance wire therebetween is provided, wherein the method comprising: a first step in which electric resistance wire is sandwiched between the joining surfaces of two molded products which are to be joined, pressure is applied at a first predetermined pressure, and current of a predetermined value is applied for a predetermined time to the electric resistance wire, so that the resin around the electric resistance wire is melted by the thermal energy produced in the electric resistance wire while the surfaces of the two molded products that are to be joined are held at a predetermined interval; and a second step in which, following the conclusion of the first step, the current being applied to the electric resistance wire is stopped, and a second predetermined pressure is applied to attach the molten resin under pressure.

Method for joining thermoplastic resin molded products

A synthetic resin-made intake manifold including a volumetric air-intake section communicating with an intake air supply source through an inlet pipe and a plurality of outlet pipes for connecting the volumetric air-intake section to cylinders of an internal combustion engine is fabricated by injection molding, by applying the die rotary injection method or die slide injection method, the volumetric air-intake section and the outlet pipes respectively, thereafter, assembling them together and joining into unity, so that a synthetic resin-made intake manifold adapted for efficient production and flexible designing or including outlet pipes of a complex shape is obtained.
