In an air conditioner having a refrigerant circuit in which a compressor, a four-way switching valve, an outdoor-side heat exchanger, an expansion valve, and an indoor-side heat exchanger are connected in succession via pipes, the interior of an enclosed vessel of a compressor, which contains a refrigerant compressing section and an electric motor, is divided airtightly into a refrigerant discharge chamber and an electric motor chamber, two refrigerant flow path pipes are provided on the electric motor chamber side, and these refrigerant flow path pipes are appropriately switched to the refrigerant discharge side and the refrigerant suction side of the compressor via the four-way switching valve, whereby one compressor can be used as an internal high pressure type or an internal low pressure type.

Air conditioner

An ink jet recording method records an image on a recording medium by adhering inks of a plurality of hues on the recording medium. The ink jet recording method includes the steps of (a) carrying out a recording using two kinds of inks having different diffusibilities with respect to the recording medium for at least a predetermined one of the hues, where a first ink out of the two kinds of inks has a diffusibility which is lower than a diffusibility of an ink having a hue other than the predetermined hue, and (b) at a boundary portion on the recording medium where a first recording region which includes the predetermined hue and a second recording region which includes a hue different from the predetermined hue are adjacent to each other, recording at least a portion of the boundary region with a predetermined recording width up to the second recording region using a second ink out of the two kinds of inks having a diffusibility higher than that of the first ink and recording a remaining portion of the boundary region using the second ink.

Ink jet recording method and apparatus, ink and ink cartridge

A method for constructing and reconstructing a hologram. The hologram is constructed by irradiating two construction beams having different incidence angles onto a hologram record medium to form interference fringe patterns therein. The hologram is reconstructed by irradiating a reconstruction beam onto the interference fringe patterns so as to diffract the reconstruction beam in accordance with the interference fringe patterns. At least one of the two construction beams irradiates the hologram record medium through at least one optical deviation element. The incidence angle of the reconstruction beam is different from that of each construction beam and is arranged to be nearly a Bragg angle at any point of the hologram.

Method for constructing and reconstructing hologram

A high precision laser beam scanner is provided which is able to shape a beam generated by a laser, suppress the influence of jitter of a scanning beam due to mode hopping of a semiconductor laser, and reduce aberration of the scanning beam. A beam source generates a semiconductor laser beam, which is diffracted by a rotary hologram, forming a scanning beam on a surface to be scanned. An aberration correcting stationary hologram is disposed between the beam source and the rotary hologram. The stationary hologram is constructed with an object wave and a reference wave, which interfere on a stationary hologram substrate subject so that an aberration of the scanning beam on the surface to be scanned shall be corrected. The object wave is a spherical wave which has an aberration, a wave length shorter than that of the semiconductor laser beam, and an incident angle which is not vertical but is inclined with respect to the stationary hologram substrate. A method for fabricating the laser beam scanner is also provided.

A holographic deflection device having a tunable laser, and at least one hologram for deflecting light incident thereupon from the tunable laser, so that the deflection of the light can be controlled by a change of the wavelength of the beam from the tunable laser.

Holographic deflection device

A method for constructing a hologram by use of a master hologram which includes a predetermined pattern of interference fringes formed thereon by optical interference of a plurality of constructing coherent light beams incident at different angles. The method includes preparing a photosensitive medium, in which the hologram is to be formed, on the master hologram, and copying the master hologram onto the photo-sensitive medium by impinging copying light beams onto the master hologram at an incident angle different from the angles of the constructing beams.

Method for constructing holograms

A laser beam scanner comprising a scanning window through which scanning beams are emitted, a plurality of hologram layers constituting the scanning window, and an optical system for impinging a laser beam on the hologram layers in a manner such that the trace of the laser beam scanning each hologram layer intersets that of the other hologram layers on the scanning window.

Optical system with grating lens assembly for correcting wavelength

An optical pickup for reading out information from an information recording media, such as an optical diskette, comprises a light source for irradiating light beam onto an optical diskette, an optical sensor for detecting the light beam reflected at the optical diskette, and an optical system including a wave plate and two hologram lenses. The first hologram lens diffracts the light beam from the light source, and the second hologram lens transmits the same light beam. On the other hand, the second hologram lens diffracts the reflected light beam from the optical diskette toward the optical sensor, and the first hologram lens transmits the same reflected light beam.

Optical pickup

In a light beam scanning apparatus using a hologram rotator, a post-hologram is provided for further diffracting a light beam diffracted by the hologram rotator to a direction opposite to that of the direction in which the light beam is diffracted by the hologram rotator. By combining the kinds of wave fronts used for forming the holograms of the holograms rotator and the post-hologram, the light beam scanning apparatus reduces the deviation of the light beam scanning position caused by the mode hopping of a laser diode, and an improved linear scanning of the light beam and/or image focusing characteristic is obtained.

Light beam scanning apparatus

An uneven-surface data detection apparatus, includes a transparent plate having an uneven-surface contact portion against which an uneven surface to be detected is pressed. A light source illuminates the uneven-surface contact portion through the transparent plate. An uneven-surface image drawing out optical element draws out the light reflected on the uneven-surface contact portion of the transparent plate. A detector detects the light drawn out from the transparent plate by the optical element. Light reflected by a projection-facing portion of the uneven surface contact portion to be introduced into the detector diverges from a propagation direction of light reflected by a recess-facing portion of the uneven surface contact portion. The optical element is arranged to guide the light reflected by the projection-facing portion into the detector.

Uneven-surface data detection apparatus

A hologram scanner includes a laser source, a rotary body having a rotational axis at least one hologram facet arranged on the rotary body for diffracting a laser beam from the laser source to scan an object and receive the scattered light from the object for detection thereof, a motor means for driving the rotary body, and an optical detector for detecting the scattered light received and diffracted by the hologram facet. The hologram facet is inclined with respect to the rotational axis of the rotary body.

Hologram scanner

A pattern recognition apparatus and method, the apparatus comprising a correlation calculating circuit for calculating first correlations between each part of a image pattern data and a reference pattern data, the first correlation being expressed as R(X), where X is a variable factor representing a region storing the part of the image pattern data, and also comprising a second correlation calculating circuit for recognizing the position of a pattern most identical to the reference pattern by emphasizing the maximum value of the first correlations by converting each of the first correlations R(X) into a second correlation expressed as [R(X)-R(X-.alpha.)]-[R(X+.alpha.)-R(X)], where .alpha. is a predetermined value determined in accordance with the size of the reference pattern data.

Pattern recognition apparatus and a pattern recognition method

Light-beam scanning apparatus mainly used for a bar-code reader in a point-of-sale system to identify sold articles. The apparatus includes a light-beam emitting device, a hologram disk having a plurality of hologram segments with different diffraction characteristics mounted along its circumference and being rotated at a predetermined speed, and a deflecting device for directing the emitted light beam from the light-beam emitting device to one side of the hologram disk in a first direction. The scanning apparatus has a first mirror group including a plurality of mirrors placed in a second direction corresponding to the other side of the hologram disk, each of which mirrors is arranged to receive a diffracted light beam from a corresponding hologram segment, and a second mirror group including a plurality of mirrors, each of which mirrors is placed to receive a light beam reflected by a corresponding mirror of the first mirror group and to reflect the incident light beam to a predetermined space positioned in the first direction where an article attached with a bar-code label is moved. In the apparatus, a light path from the other side of the hologram disk to the predetermined space has a predetermined length to form a predetermined scanning light pattern in the space.
