A battery charging device includes a conversion part that converts an alternating current output from an alternating-current generator into a direct current by a switching element and supplies the direct current to a battery; a number-of-revolutions acquisition part that acquires a number of revolutions of the alternating-current generator based on a signal responsive to the operation of the alternating-current generator; and an output control part that determines an energization phase angle that defines a timing of energization of the switching element of the conversion part for supplying a charging current from the alternating-current generator to the battery, and controls energization of the switching element based on the energization phase angle.

A battery charging apparatus includes a plurality of input terminals which are connected to respective phases of a three-phase AC dynamo, and a rectifying circuit including a plurality of rectifying elements and a plurality of switching elements. A switching element control unit and pulse generation unit are provided, for controlling the turning on/off of the switching elements, and for generating a pulse signal, respectively. The switching element control unit is configured to control the plurality of switching elements, and includes a potential difference detection unit configured to detect potential differences between potentials of input terminals, and a specifying unit configured to determine a phase order of AC outputs which are input to the input terminals.

Battery charging apparatus

A control circuitfor determining a phase sequence of a power generator includes a frequency control unit, a cycle obtaining unit, a determination unit, and an output-supply control unit. The frequency control unit controls a frequency of a sensor signal synchronous with an operation of the power generator, and the cycle obtaining unit obtains a cycle of the sensor signal whose frequency is controlled by the frequency control unit. The determination unit determines the phase sequence of the power generator by detecting timing at which an output voltage outputted from each of the phases of the power generator has risen using the cycle of the sensor signal obtained by the cycle obtaining unit. The output-supply control unit controls a drive circuit according to the phase sequence of the power generator determined by the determination unit.
