A cable with a connector includes a plurality of multicore optical fibers and a plurality of connectors attached to ends of the plurality of multicore optical fibers. The connectors are multi-fiber connectors, and a core number density of each of the plurality of connectors is 2 cores/mmor more. The cable further includes a sheath that collectively covers the plurality of multicore optical fibers.

Optical communication system

An optical fiber ribbon includes a plurality of optical fiber cores arranged in parallel in a direction orthogonal to a longitudinal direction of the optical fiber cores, and a coupling member configured to couple the plurality of optical fiber cores. In the optical fiber ribbon, a plurality of coupled sections and a plurality of separate sections are alternately provided in the longitudinal direction. Each of the plurality of coupled sections is in a state in which all of the adjacent optical fiber cores are coupled by the coupling member. Each of the plurality of separate sections is in a state in which at least two of the optical fiber cores adjacent to each other are not coupled by the coupling member.

A ferrule for retaining a plurality of optical fibers includes a front end surface; a rear end surface; a plurality of fiber retaining holes; an accommodation hole; and a void portion. The fiber retaining holes each extend from the front end surface toward the rear end surface along a first direction. The accommodation hole is connected to the plurality of fiber retaining holes. The void portion is provided in a region around the plurality of fiber retaining holes. The fiber retaining holes include constant diameter portions extending from the front end surface along the first direction. The void portion is provided along the constant diameter portions, and is aligned with the constant diameter portions in a plane perpendicular to the first direction. A minimum value of a width in the plane of the void portion differs from an inner diameter of the constant diameter portion.

Ferrule and optical connector

An optical connector ferrule according to an embodiment includes an MT ferrule, and a spacer mounted on an optical end surface of the MT ferrule and having a guide hole into which a guide pin is inserted. The spacer has a contact surface that contacting the counterpart connector and a recess surrounded by the contact surface. The spacer includes a lens part exposed on a bottom surface of the recess and optically coupled to the optical end surface of the MT ferrule and a base part that retains the lens part by surrounding the lens part. The material of the lens part and the material of the base part are different from each other, and the difference between the linear expansion coefficient of the base part and the linear expansion coefficient of the MT ferrule is 0.5&#xd7;10/&#xb0; C. or less.

An optical connection structure including N first inner housings, a first outer housing, N second inner housings, and a second outer housing. Optical connection structure

A lens component of the present invention has an identification mark that can be formed without impairing the lens surface profile. The lens component includes: at least one set of lenses including, an element-side lens provided facing to a light emitting and receiving element; and a fiber-side lens provided facing to a transmitting and receiving optical fiber; an element-side lens forming surface formed on the element-side lens; and an identification mark provided on the element-side lens forming surface. A connector includes a holding member. The holding member has two guide portions which are arranged away from each other in a pitch direction. Each of the guide portions has a side portion, an upper portion and a lower portion which are formed as described below.
