A fluorescence observation device is a device for performing fluorescence observation of a sample piece cut out from a sample including: a tray on which the sample piece is placed; a light source unit which generates excitation light to irradiate the sample piece; a detection unit which detects fluorescence from the sample piece; and an image generation unit which generates a fluorescence image of the sample piece based on a detection signal from the detection unit and the tray includes a plurality of placement regions provided around a center region of the tray and also includes a marker portion indicating a cutting orientation of the sample piece with respect to the sample.

Fluorescence observation device

A fluorescent image acquisition system includes a light emitting device which emits excitation light during ON period and stop the emission of the excitation light during OFF period, an imaging device which outputs ON image data and OFF image data, an input device which sets a coefficient, an image processing unit which creates fluorescent image data and background image data, and an identification unit which identifies fluorescent pixels and non-fluorescent pixels. In order to create a superimposed image, the image processing unit calculates values obtained by summing pixel values of fluorescent pixels of the fluorescent image data and pixel values of fluorescent pixels of the background image data at a ratio of 1:1, as pixel values of the fluorescent pixels and calculates values obtained by multiplying at least pixel values of the non-fluorescent pixels of the background image by the coefficient, as pixel values of the non-fluorescent pixels.

Superimposed image creation apparatus and superimposed image creation method

In an imaging device, a tilted surface is formed on one surface side of a base, while a flexible substrate arranged with light sources is secured along the tilted surface of the base, so as to adjust the optical axis of an imaging unit and positions illuminated by the light sources. Thus, the respective optical axes of light sources are regulated not individually but at once by placing the substrate along the tilted surface, which makes it easy to adjust the illumination positions. It is also excellent in heat dissipation of the light sources, since the heat generated by the light sources dissipates through the base. This enables the light sources to keep their output stability favorably.

Imaging apparatus and method for manufacturing imaging apparatus

A fluorescence observation device includes a light source supplying excitation light, an interlaced imaging device, a field memory storing an image output from the imaging device, and a difference computing unit generating a difference image. The light source supplies the excitation light such that one of the first and second field image acquiring periods in the imaging device is a fluorescence image acquiring period, and the other is a background image acquiring period. The difference computing unit switches between a first mode of subtracting a background image of the memory from a fluorescence image output from the imaging device, and a second mode of subtracting a background image output from the imaging device from a fluorescence image of the memory, to apply the mode. Accordingly, it is possible to generate images in which fluorescence is extracted in real time.

Fluorescent light observation device and fluorescent light observation method

Cooling arrangements that cool down fuel injectors exposed to the high temperature combustion in direct injected engines so that no heavy oil components deposit on nozzles of the fuel injectors. A bypass of water flow extends in the proximity of the boss where the fuel injector is inserted to expedite cooling of the fuel injector. A cavity extending toward the boss can replace the bypass or can be additionally provided. The fuel injector boss and a spark plug boss are connected with each other and make a wall that can obstruct water flow. Another bypass is provided to clear water away from a backwater formed at the wall. In case that some heavy oil components deposit on the injector nozzles for some reasons, a control system for controlling the fuel injection is allowed to adjust amounts of the fuel basically in response to the temperature of the injector nozzle.

Cooling arrangement for direct injected engine

A marine drive comprises an engine having a cooling system adapted to cool the combustion chambers, air intake system, and the power generator. Intake coolant passages are formed on either side of the crankcase so as to lie adjacent reed valves that are positioned within the crankcase. Cooling water is directed through the intake cooling jackets in order to dissipate heat that may accumulate in the intake valves. Another cooling jacket is defined adjacent a portion of a flywheel magneto generator assembly. Cooling water is directed through this generator cooling jacket to absorb heat generated within the magneto coil of the generator. Accordingly, the magneto coil is protected further from damage that may occur if it is exposed to excessive heat. This arrangement has particular advantages with direct-injected, two-cycle engines in which no lubricant is directed across the intake valves.

A continuity checking device for a connector which comprises a connector holding part , a checking part including continuity checking pins capable of contacting with terminals , and insertion checking pins which can be inserted into spaces where flexible locking lances of the connector are deflected, the checking part being movable back and forth with respect to the connector holding part, and links which are connected to the checking part at its one end and connected to an operating lever at the other end, wherein the insertion checking pins are immovably fixed inside the checking part, whereby a gap is created between the checking part and the connector holding part , when the insertion checking pins are abutted against the flexible locking lances . Each of the links includes a displacement absorbing mechanisms. Each of the links includes a pair of link plates and a link cover, and the displacement absorbing mechanism includes elongated holes respectively provided in the link plates, shafts of the link cover, and an elastic member provided in the link cover for urging the link plates in an expanding direction. Biasing force of the elastic member is larger than resisting force for advancing the checking part

Connector continuity checking device

A direct injected engine includes a multi-layer support that attaches injector drivers to the engine while substantially isolating the injector drivers from high and low frequency vibrations. One layer of the support is formed of a relatively hard material so as to dampen high frequency vibrations produced by the engine when running at high speeds (e.g., 5300 rpm). A second layer of the support is formed of a softer material so as to dampen low frequency vibrations produced by another electronic control component, such as, for example, an electronic control unit (ECU), which the support also attaches to the engine. The ECU is disposed between the engine and a housing containing the injector drivers. The first layer of the support in this structure substantially isolates both the electronic control unit and the injector drivers from engine vibrations, and the second layer of the support substantially isolates the injector drivers from ECU-produced vibrations.

Vibration damping mount for engine control components

A continuity sensing pin movable forward and backward has one end for contacting a terminal of a connector. An insertion inspecting pin has one end insertable into a deflection space of a flexible locking arm that locks the terminal in a housing of the connector. An electrically conductive slide is resiliently urged toward the terminal of the connector. The continuity sensing pin has an opposing end contacting a circuit conductor via a resilient member. The circuit conductor can contact the slide. The insertion inspecting pin has an opposing end that can abut against the slide. When the slide is energized by an external power source and the one end of the insertion inspecting pin abuts against the flexible locking arm, the opposing end of the insertion inspecting pin pushes the slide to disengage the slide from the circuit conductor. The circuit conductor is arranged on a circuit board. The circuit board has a through hole passing the opposing end of the insertion inspecting pin. The circuit conductor has a front part disposed on a front face of the circuit board and a rear part disposed on a rear face of the circuit board. The front part electrically communicates with the rear part via the through hole. The front part of circuit conductor can contact the resilient member and the rear part of the circuit conductor can contact the slide.

Electrical continuity checker for connector

A cylinder head in a direct fuel injected engine includes an improved construction and defines a combustion chamber with other components of the engine. The engine has a fuel injector arranged to spray fuel directly into its combustion chamber and positioned at one side of the cylinder head. The cylinder head has a coolant jacket through which coolant flows. At least one rib of the cylinder head is positioned on a generally opposite side relative to the fuel injector in the coolant jacket.

Cylinder head for direct fuel injected engine

A fuel injector is mounting in a cylinder head assembly. The cylinder head assembly includes a mounting bore that extends into a recess wall that forms a portion of a combustion chamber. A sleeve is placed within the mounting bore. The fuel injector is secured with a nozzle portion extending through the sleeve. The fuel injector and sleeve interface is sealed by a heat resistant sealing member. The sleeve has any of a number of configurations designed to reduce the temperature of the nozzle. In addition, the nozzle can be recessed within the sleeve to reduce the direct exposure of the nozzle to flames propagated within the combustion chamber.

Injector mounting arrangement for direct-injected engines

An outboard motor has a fuel injected internal combustion engine operating on either a two-cycle or four-cycle principle. In some embodiments, the engine is directly injected while in others it is indirectly injected. The engine features one of a number of methods for reducing the temperature of injector drivers. The methods include sensing the temperature of the injector drivers and decreasing the engine speed if the temperature exceeds a predetermined temperature. Another method involves sensing the duration of a high-speed, high-load operating condition and slowing the engine speed if the duration exceeds a predetermined time period. Yet another method involves activating a cooling fan if the temperature of the injector drivers exceeds a predetermined temperature and activating a warning device if the temperature does not decrease with the fan operating.

Fuel injection control system

A fuel filter for an internal combustion engine suitable for detecting water accumulated therein. The fuel filter has a holder that is mounted on the engine and holds a filter body. A vessel is detachably affixed to the holder. There is a space between the end of the filter body and the bottom of the vessel. An inlet and outlet are provided for inducing fuel into and discharging it from the vessel. The inlet and outlet are connected relative to each other through the filter body for admitting flow of the fuel. In one feature of this invention, a water detection mechanism is placed under the filter body in the vessel. In another feature of this invention, the vessel is made of a transparent material. In a further feature, the holder is mounted on the engine via a damping member.

Fuel filter for engine

Several embodiments of V-type outboard motors having direct cylinder injection using electronic fuel injectors driven by a solenoid driver. The solenoid driver is mounted in the otherwise void area between the cylinder banks of the engine. The solenoid driver is also cooled so as to provide long life and good operation. The cooling can be either by air or water or both. Mounting the solenoid driver in the valley between the cylinder banks also permits shortening of the conduits from the solenoid driver to the solenoids of the injector valves for their operation.
