A helical scanning type recording/reproducing apparatus provided with a dynamic tracking head which is moved in a direction perpendicular to a recording track on a magnetic tape and which is controlled by a movement controlling unit to trace the recording track accurately. The recording/reproducing apparatus includes a control phase data memory 10 for storing tape feed phase data, a head height data memory 6 for storing head height data during tracing by the dynamic tracking head and a control signal detection circuit 4 for detecting whether or not the control signals are being reproduced. When the control signals are not being reproduced, the head height position is controlled to be a predetermined head height position, based on data stored in the control phase data memory 10, at the same time that tracking control is performed based on the data stored in the head height memory 6 and the data corresponding to the current head height position.

A video signal reproducing apparatus comprises a rotary magnetic head which reproduces a video signal recorded on a magnetic tape, a rotator which rotates the rotary magnetic head to cause the same to scan the magnetic tape intermittently along a oblique path thereon, a head supporting member, such as a compound piezoelectric plate element, which supports the rotary magnetic head to rotate in accordance with the rotation of the rotator and to shift the position of the rotary magnetic head in the direction of the axis for rotation thereof in response to the level of a control signal supplied thereto, and a signal generator which produces a signal acting as the control signal in a 'trick' reproducing mode and having such level variations as to cause the head supporting member to have a swinging movement in a period in which the rotary magnetic head is not in contact with the magnetic head, which affects to cancel a swinging movement of the head supporting member occuring in a period in which the rotary magnetic head scans the magnetic tape.

Head positioning signal generating apparatus with signal duration control

An automatic tracking apparatus for use in a video tape recorder including a magnetic head mounted on a piezo-electric element. The automatic tracking apparatus includes a driving pulse generator which generates a driving pulse signal causing the piezo-electric element to drive the magnetic head. The driving pulse signal has a waveform including a jumping portion causing the magnetic head to jump from one recording track to another recording track, which generates ringing vibrations in the piezo-electric element in a change-speed reproduction mode. An inflection point is imposed on the jumping portion of the driving pulse signal waveform. The position of the inflection point is determined in accordance with the amplitude level of the ringing vibrations so as to minimize the amplitude level of the ringing vibrations.

A DC motor control circuit for controlling the speed and direction of rotation including a plurality of linear amplifiers which are, respectively, connected to each of the stator windings of the DC motor and a pulse generator for generating rotational pulse trains which represent the rotational phases of the rotor of the DC motor and output impedance control pulse generator for generating based on the rotational pulse train control pulses which selectively control the linear amplifiers so as to produce nearly infinite output impedance and a motor control voltage and signal inverter for inverting the motor control voltage and a plurality of switching circuits connected to the inputs of the linear amplifiers for supplying the motor control voltage and phase inverter motor control voltage in a selective manner to each of the linear amplifiers and switching circuit control pulse generator for generating switching pulses based on the rotational pulse trains which are supplied to each of the switching circuits.
