An engine unit that enhances air intake efficiency of an engine air intake passage for sending air into a transmission case housing a continuously variable transmission. The engine air intake passage supplies air to an engine arranged in a lower portion of a vehicle body. An air cleaner cleans outside air to be sent to the engine air intake passage. A transmission air intake passage sends air into the transmission case. The transmission case is adjacent to the engine in a vehicle width direction. The engine air intake passage extends upward from a front portion of the engine. The transmission air intake passage extends upward from the front portion of the transmission case in the vehicle width direction of the air cleaner and the engine air intake passage.

Engine unit and straddle-type vehicle

An air cleaner includes an air intake port and an exhaust port on a side opposite to the intake port. A filter extends to the exhaust port side from the intake port side and divides the air cleaner into suction side and exhaust side air chambers. A distance between a side wall part of the suction side air chamber and the filter gradually decreases to the back of the suction side air chamber from the intake port. A distance between a side wall part of the exhaust side air chamber and the filter gradually increases to the exhaust port.

Air cleaner, engine unit and straddle-type vehicle

A straddle-type vehicle provided with a transmission air intake passage for sending air into a transmission case housing a continuously variable transmission prevents an increase in vehicle width and prevents sand or the like from entering the air intake passage by covering the front side of the air intake passage. The transmission air intake passage extends upward from the transmission case on an outer side in a vehicle width direction of a main frame. A rearward cover covers the main frame and extends outward in the vehicle width direction to cover the rear side of the transmission air intake passage. A forward cover is curved forward from an edge outside in the vehicle width direction of a right leg shield part constructing the rearward cover and covers the transmission air intake passage from a front side.

Straddle type vehicle

A straddle-type vehicle with enhanced heat exhaust efficiency in a transmission case housing a continuously variable transmission. The continuously variable transmission and an engine are arranged forward of a rear wheel. An air intake duct introduces outside air into the transmission case and an air exhaust duct exhausts air from the transmission case. The air exhaust duct is connected to and extends upward from a top portion of the transmission case. The air exhaust duct has an air exhaust port that is positioned above the transmission case.

Straddle type vehicle including air exhaust duct for continuously variable transmission

A motorcycle having an external appearance rich in change without increased cost. A front-side side cover has first edge parts adjoining a body frame. Portions of the first edge parts are in approximately the same position in a vehicle width direction as outermost faces of an outer surface of the body frame adjoined to outermost faces of outer surfaces of the portions. The remaining portion of the first edge parts is inside the outermost face of the outer surface of the body frame adjoined to the outermost face of an outer surface of the remaining portion.
