An image forming apparatus includes: a fixing apparatus configured to fix onto a sheet-shaped recording medium a toner image formed on a surface of the recording medium, the fixing apparatus is detachable from an apparatus main body of the image forming apparatus, and the fixing apparatus includes: a fixing member configured to fix the toner image onto the recording medium; a case that houses the fixing member; a cable whose first end is connected to the fixing member; and a connector that is connected to a second end on a side opposite to the first end of the cable, and the connector is fixed to an outer wall surface of the case that faces in a direction opposite to an attaching direction in which the fixing apparatus is attached to the apparatus main body.

The present invention provides a fixing device including a flexible cylindrical rotary member and an inner-surface opposing portion that opposes an inner surface of the rotary member at an end portion of the rotary member in a generatrix direction. The inner-surface opposing portion moves upstream in a recording material conveying direction in accordance with lateral shift of the rotary member in the generatrix direction. This restricts the lateral shift of the rotary member.

Fixing device for suppressing reduced durability of a flexible rotary member

An upstream roller pair and a downstream roller pair are disposed on a first conveyance path and configured to perform a reverse conveyance operation on a sheet. The upstream roller pair includes a first roller and a second roller abutting with each other. The downstream roller pair is configured to nip and convey a sheet by a third roller and a fourth roller in a state that areas in a width direction where a plurality of first rotary members contact a first surface of a sheet do not overlap with areas in the width direction where a plurality of second rotary members contact a second surface of a sheet opposite to the first surface.

Image forming apparatus

A sheet conveying apparatus includes a guide unit to guide a sheet conveyed by a sheet conveyance portion. The guide unit includes a first movable guide, a second movable guide, and a linking mechanism having an intermediate member through which the first and second movable guides are linked movably with respect to each other. A conveyance regulating portion is supported by the intermediate member and guides the sheet passing through a first conveyance path toward the sheet conveyance portion and guides the sheet that is switched back by the sheet conveyance portion toward a second conveyance path.

Sheet conveying apparatus and image forming apparatus

A sheet conveying apparatus includes a cover unit opened and closed with respect to an apparatus body and a guide unit including first and second movable guides respectively movable with respect to the apparatus body. A first conveyance path is formed between the first guide portion and the first movable guide, and a second conveyance path is formed between the second guide portion and the second movable guide. The guide unit is provided with a linking mechanism including an intermediate member for linking the first and second movable guides. The linking mechanism coordinates movements of the first and second movable guides such that the first and second movable guides are respectively moved away from the first and second guide portions along with an opening movement of the cover unit with respect to the apparatus body.

A fixing apparatus fixes a toner image on a recording material by conveying and heating the recording material at a nip portion, and includes a first rotating member, a second rotating member configured to form the nip portion with the first rotating member, the first and second rotating members being arranged such that rotation of the second rotating member causes rotation of the first rotating member, a frame configured to support the second rotating member, so as to be rotatable and an opening and closing part arranged to open and close relative to the frame on the downstream side of the nip portion in the conveyance direction of the recoding material, the opening and closing part having a duct through which air flows.

Fixing apparatus

A fixing device includes first and second members, a frame supporting the second member, and two pressure mechanisms provided on either end of the first member. The mechanism includes a lever having one end supported by the frame in a rotatable manner in a pressure direction, and a helical compression spring disposed between a first spring support provided on the other end of the lever and a second spring support on the frame. At least one of the first and second spring supports includes a first area and a second area closer to the spring in the axial direction than the first area, the first area is in contact with an area of the spring close to a winding end of the spring, and the second area is in contact with an area of the spring farther away from the winding end in a winding direction than the first area.

Fixing device

The detector that detects a light beam emitted from a light source of a second image forming device and reflected by a polygon mirror, and an adjustment device that performs adjustment processing of adjusting the velocity of the polygon mirror based on an output of the detector are provided. Before a first image forming device performs the image forming processing, the adjustment device performs the adjustment processing while causing the light source of the second image forming device to emit the light beam during a time period including at least a time period in which a photosensitive member of the second image forming device is emitted with the light beam. Before the adjustment processing is finished, the first image forming device starts to move a developing member to a developing position.

An image fixing apparatus includes a heater including a substrate, a first electrode provided on one side of the substrate and a second electrode provided on the other side of the substrate; and a connector, connected with the heater, for receiving electric power, the connector including an electrically insulative housing, and a contact terminal provided inside the housing and having first spring contact contacted to the first electrode and a second spring contact contacted to the second electrode, wherein the first spring contact and the second spring contact are disposed at positions different as seen in a direction perpendicular to a surface of the substrate.
