There are provided a variable magnification optical system and a control method thereof which are capable of relatively accurately adjusting a positional relationship between a variable magnification optical device and an imaging surface of an imaging device according to a zoom amount. A zoom lens included in the variable magnification optical device is positioned at a telephoto end and a wide angle end, and shift amounts &#x394;Sand &#x394;S, tilt angles &#x3b8;and &#x3b8;, rotation angles &#x3d5;and &#x3d5;, and focusing adjustment amounts &#x394;and &#x394;of the variable magnification optical device are set by a user and are stored. In a case where a zoom amount of the zoom lens is set to a desired value by the user, a shift amount corresponding to the set zoom amount is calculated by using the stored shift amounts &#x394;Sand &#x394;S. The positional relationship between the variable magnification optical device and the imaging surface of the imaging device is adjusted so as to have the calculated shift amount.

Variable magnification optical system and control method thereof

In an automatic shooting mode, a CPU of a digital camera displays on an LCD a number setting display for setting the number of people to be taken. After the number of people to be taken is set, a through image taken by the CCD is stored in a frame memory and displayed on the LCD. A face detecting section detects and counts faces contained in the through image, and outputs the number of faces as the number of detected people to a number matching section. The number matching section judges whether the set number stored in the frame memory matches the detected number input from the face detecting section. When the number matching section judges that the numbers match each other, the CPU performs an image-taking processing after AF control and AE control.

Image taking apparatus and image taking method

According to the present invention, the imaging apparatus of the rolling shutter system first exposes/reads odd lines of an imaging sensor and then exposes/reads even lines. An image of one line is formed by sorting information of the lines, which is obtained by reading the information of the odd lines first and reading the information of the even lines later, in order of line positions. As a result, exposure start timing of adjacent odd/even lines is significantly shifted, and the exposure unevenness has a periodic stripe pattern when the exposure unevenness caused by flash emission of another person, etc. occurs on an image of one frame. Therefore, accurate detection of exposure unevenness caused by flash emission of another person in an imaging apparatus of a rolling shutter system can be achieved.

Imaging apparatus and imaging control method

A lens unit is equipped with a lens, through which light from an object enters, and a lens barrel for holding the lens. An optical extending member is employed when observing a focal image of the lens with a microscope. A receiving portion having a receiving surface, for receiving a front end facet of the optical path extending member within the lens barrel that faces toward the lens, is formed at a portion of the lens barrel. A mounting portion positioned further rearward from a rear end facet of the optical path extending member, having a guide insertion aperture that extends in a direction perpendicular to the receiving surface and a mounting surface that extends in a direction parallel to the receiving surface is formed at the periphery of the guide insertion aperture is formed at a portion of the lens barrel.
