An image forming device includes a scanner, a first setting portion configured to set a reading scale factor for an image from a document, a second setting portion configured to set the size of an image formed medium, a determining portion configured to determine to which of divided ranges the reading scale factor set by the first setting portion belongs, a moving section configured to move the scanner at a specified moving speed corresponding to the range determined by the determining portion, a calculating section configured to calculate a distance the scanner moves based on the reading scale factor and the size of the image formed medium, and a storing portion configured to store the image read by a photoelectric converting device while the moving section is moving the scanner at the moving speed corresponding to the reading scale factor.

Image forming device

There is provided a technique that, when shading compensation is performed in an image reading apparatus, is less prone to be influenced by a smudge or the like adhered to a document glass or a white reference plate to be read by an optical reading system, and hence is able to contribute to an improvement in the quality of read images. Provision is made for an optical system control part that operates to make an optical reading system read a white reference plate through a document glass in a first predetermined range in a direction of movement of the optical reading system when an image of a document placed on the document glass is read by driving the optical reading system to move in a predetermined direction at the time of shading compensation, and make the optical reading system read the white reference plate through the document glass by the optical reading system in a second predetermined range in the direction of movement of the optical reading system when an image of a moving document is read by the optical reading system that is stopped at a predetermined position; and a compensation part that performs shading compensation based on image information obtained by the optical reading system reading the white reference plate in the predetermined ranges.

Image reading apparatus and image reading method

A thermal recording material having a thermal color-forming layer which contains an electron-donating leuco-dye and an electron-receiving compound, and a protective layer formed in that order on a support. The protective layer of the material contains an inorganic dye and at least one of an amide-denatured polyvinyl alcohol and a diacetone-denatured polyvinyl alcohol.

In a method of producing a wet friction material according to the present invention, a water soluble material is dispersed into a raw paper including a fibrous base material, a filler, and a friction adjusting agent. Then, the raw paper is passed through water to dissolve the water soluble material to provide porosity. Thereafter, the raw paper is immersed with thermosetting resin, and heated and hardened to thereby produce a wet friction material.

Method of producing wet friction material and wet frictional material

A process for producing microcapsules that have a sufficiently broad particle size distribution to be suitable for use in a pressure measuring films, which process is improved in that it eliminates the need to perform blending and filtering operations while reducing the possible loss in capsule solutions or films or operating efficiency of the capsule applicator. A disperse phase is poured into a disperse medium as the latter is stirred in a preliminary emulsification tank, thereby forming a primary emulsion. The primary emulsion is forced into cylindrical continuous emulsification equipment by means of a metering pump. An emulsion having a broad particle size distribution is produced by lowering stepwise the rotational speed of the inner cylinder of the continuous emulsification equipment in accordance with the following schedule: 3 min and 15 sec at 2900 rpm, 4 min and 15 sec at 2700 rpm, 4 min and 15 sec at 2300 rpm, and 3 min and 15 sec at 2100 rpm. Subsequently, water and a 50% aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide are added to the emulsion in an encapsulation tank 4, where an encapsulation reaction is performed for 3 hours at 72.degree. C. with a stirrer being revolved, thereby producing a capsule solution.

Process for producing microcapsules

A coating apparatus for coating a sensitizing solution onto a surface of an elongated metal plate includes a transfer roller and a coating nozzle for coating the sensitizing solution on a circumferential surface of the roller. The circumferential surface of the transfer roller is in contact with the surface of the metal plate running in the longitudinal direction under a predetermined tension. The transfer roller is rotated in a direction opposite to that in which the metal plate is run, so that the coated sensitizing solution is transferred from the circumferential surface of the transfer roller on the surface of the metal plate.
