The present invention provides a rubber composition having adequate foamability, uses thereof, a copolymer contained in the rubber composition, a rubber composition capable of providing a cross-linked foam, which has a low specific gravity and an excellent shape-retaining property even when the usage of a nonconjugated polyene is reduced, and a cross-linked rubber and a cross-linked foam, which are produced from the rubber composition. A copolymer (A) according to the present invention is a copolymer including structural units derived from ethylene [A], an &#x3b1;-olefin [B], a nonconjugated polyene [C-1], in which one carbon-carbon double bond (C&#x2550;C) polymerizable with a metallocene catalyst is present in one molecule, and a nonconjugated polyene [C-2], in which two bonds of C&#x2550;C polymerizable with the metallocene catalyst are present in one molecule, and being synthesized with the metallocene catalyst, wherein (1) the units derived from the component [B] constitute 10 to 50 percent by mole, (2) the total of the units derived from the component [C-1] and the units derived from the component [C-2] is 1.0 to 6.0 percent by mole, (3) the molar ratio of the units derived from the component [C-1] to the units derived from the component [C-2] is 75/25 to 99.5/0.5, (4) [ML (1+4) 100&#xb0; C.] is 10 to 200, and (5) 50&#x3e;activation energy of fluidization (kJ/mol)&#x3e;35 is satisfied.

Copolymer, rubber composition, cross-linked rubber, cross-linked foam, and uses thereof

[Objects] It is an object to provide a foam having a low specific gravity and a small compression set, more preferably a foam having a low specific gravity, a small compression set and uniform quality, a foaming composition, and applications of the foam. [Means for Solution] The foam is obtained by foaming an olefin polymer, wherein the foam has a specific gravity (d) in the range of 0.03 to 0.30, and a compression set (CS, %) and the specific gravity (d) satisfy the formula of CS&#x2266;&#x2212;279&#xd7;(d)+95. The foam is preferably obtained from a foaming composition that includes an ethylene polymer (A) including a specific ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer (A1) and an ethylene/polar monomer copolymer (A2) in a specific mass ratio, and a specific ethylene/C3-20 &#x3b1;-olefin/non-conjugated polyene copolymer (B).

Foams, foaming compositions and applications thereof

The present invention provides a resin composition capable of providing foams (non-crosslinked and crosslinked foams) which have low specific gravity and low compression set (CS) and are excellent in tensile strength properties, tear strength properties and vibration-damping properties at room temperature to high temperatures, and a foam of the resin composition. The resin composition for foams of the present invention comprises 5 to 95 parts by weight of an ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer (A) and 5 to 95 parts by weight of a hydrogenated copolymer (B) obtained by hydrogenating a copolymer comprising a conjugated diene and a vinyl aromatic compound, and is characterized in that the hydrogenated copolymer (B) does not have a glass transition point of not higher than &#x2212;10&#xb0; C. when measured at a frequency of 1 Hz in accordance with JIS-K7198.

Resin composition for foams and uses thereof

An object of the present invention is to provide a novel ethylene-&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer excellent in crosslinking properties; a foamed molded article having a low specific gravity and a low compression set (CS) and a composition capable of producing the foamed molded article, footwear parts composed of a foamed molded article; an ethylenic copolymer composition excellent in balance between weather resistance and mechanical strength, and an electric wire coating material and an electric wire sheath using the ethylenic copolymer composition; and a thermoplastic elastomer capable of producing a molded article excellent in balance between mechanical strength and toughness. The ethylenic copolymer (A) of the present invention is a copolymer composed of only ethylene and an &#x3b1;-olefin having 3 to 20 carbon atoms, and is characterized in that vinyl-group content (a) per 1000 carbon atoms as measured by infrared absorption spectroscopy, MFR/MFR(b), and the specific gravity (c) are within a specific range.

Ethylenic copolymer, composition containing the copolymer and use thereof

A porous film is here disclosed which is obtainable by stretching a film in at least uniaxial direction, said film being formed from a resin composition containing 25 to 70 parts by weight of a polyolefin resin and 75 to 30 parts by weight of an inorganic filler; said resin composition further containing 0.5 to 10 parts by weight of dehydrated castor oil (a) and 0.01 to 5 parts by weight of hardened castor oil (b) based on the total 100 parts by weight of the polyolefin resin and the inorganic filler; and the amount of the component (a) being 20 to 95% by weight based on the total amount of the components (a) and (b). In this porous film, softness and feeling like cloth, moisture vapor transmission, uniformity of the film thickness and the like are equal to their conventional levels. Furthermore, the adhesive strength of a securing tape does not deteriorate because the third components (a) and (b) do not float on the surface of the porous film. Therefore, it can be suitably used as materials of articles such as disposable diapers fixable and attachable by securing tapes.
