A cell according to the present disclosure includes: a solid electrolyte layer including a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface; a fuel electrode on the first surface; an air electrode on the second surface; and a middle layer between the second surface and the air electrode. The middle layer=is a CeO-type sintered body containing Si, the content of Si equivalent to or less than 150 ppm in terms of SiO. A cell stack device includes a cell stack in which the plurality of cells is aligned. A module includes: a storage container; and the cell stack device that is housed in the storage container. A module housing device includes: an external case; the module and an auxiliary equipment that drives the module, which are housed in the external case.

A solid oxide fuel cell, a cell stack device, a fuel cell module and a fuel cell device are disclosed. The solid oxide fuel cell includes a solid electrolyte layer, fuel electrode layer and an oxygen electrode layer. The solid electrolyte layer has gas blocking properties and includes first and second main surfaces opposite to each other. The fuel electrode layer is disposed on the first main surface while the oxygen electrode layer is disposed on the second main surface of the solid electrolyte layer. A thickness of the solid electrolyte layer is 40 &#x3bc;m or less. Porosity of the solid electrolyte layer in an arbitrary cross section thereof is 3 to 15% by area. An average pore diameter of pores in the solid electrolyte layer is 2 &#x3bc;m or less.

Solid oxide fuel cell, cell stack device, fuel cell module, and fuel cell device

A fuel cell includes a solid electrolyte layer containing Zr; an intermediate layer containing CeOsolid solution having a rare-earth element excluding Ce; an air electrode layer containing Sr, the intermediate layer and the air electrode layer being stacked in this order on one surface of the solid electrolyte layer; and a fuel electrode layer on another surface of the solid electrolyte layer which is opposite to the one surface. A value obtained by dividing a content of the rare-earth element excluding Ce by a content of Zr is equal to or less than 0.05 at a site of the solid electrolyte layer, the site being 1 &#x3bc;m away from an interface between the solid electrolyte layer and the intermediate layer.
