Resin composition

A composition which comprises polyphenylene ether, polyamide, rubber-like material, compatibilizing agent having double bond or triple bond, and a polarity such as a carboxyl group, amide group and the like, and a melt tension modifier comprising a compound having oxirane oxygen. Said composition makes blow molding of large size molded products possible by the effect of decreasing the drawdown of parison during blow molding.

Polyphenylene ether resin composition

A transparent resin composition is described, comprising (i) from 65 to 99.9 parts by weight of a modified polyolefin which is at least partially modified with an unsaturated carboxylic acid or the anhydride thereof and having an unsaturated carboxylic acid or anhydride content of from 0.002 to 5 wt %, (2) from 35 to 0.1 parts by weight of a saponified ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer having an ethylene content of from 25 to 75 mol % and a degree of saponification of at least 96%, and (3) from 0.5 to 200 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the copolymer (2) of a plasticizer. Molded articles of the resin composition have excellent transparency, moldability, mechanical strength, moisture barrier property, etc. The resin composition can be easily prepared from trimming wastes, wastes of extrusion or the like of multi-layered articles.

Multi-layered laminate

A polyphenylene ether resin composition comprising (a) a polyphenylene ether resin, (b) a polyester resin, and (c) from 0.1 to 10 parts by weight, per 100 parts by weight of the total of the components (a) and (b), an epoxidized liquid polybutadiene having an oxirane oxygen content of at least 0.07% by weight. The composition is excellent in solvent resistance and mechanical strength.

A multi-layer laminated structure comprising a polycarbonate or thermoplastic polyester layer having adjacently adhered thereto a layer comprised of a modified olefin polymer having a stiffness modulus of from 100 to 3,000 Kg/cm.sup.2 and a degree of crystallinity of not more than 33%, in which an unsaturated carboxylic acid or the derivative thereof is grafted to at least a part of a polymer consisting of a hydrocarbon. The laminated structure is excellent in moisture impermeability, oxygen barrier property, adhesion durability under a high temperature and high humidity condition, moldability, processability, and the like, and is useful as a packaging material.

A process of purifying maleic anhydride graft polyolefin comprising the steps of adding an aqueous solution of alkali initial hydroxide to a solution of maleic anhydride graft polyolefin containing unreacted maleic anhydride which is dissolved in an organic solvent at a temperature from 80.degree. C. to 160.degree. C., thereby precipitating maleic anhydride graft polyolefin particles to make a W/O emulsion; stirring the W/O emulsion while maintaining the temperature at a same temperature as above for less than 2 hours, thereby selectively forming the alkali metal salt of unreacted maleic anhydride; adding the aqueous solution of alkali metal hydroxide to the W/O emulsion to convert the W/O emulsion into an O/W emulsion; separating the maleic anhydride draft polyolefin particles, and washing the maleic anhydride graft polyolefin particles with water.

Process of purifying maleic anhydride-modified polyolefin

Crosslinked product of a propylene resin having practically sufficient performances such as heat resistance, impact strength, rigidity, etc. is produced by exposing a composition to water or steam in the presence of a silanol condensation catalyst to effect crosslinking, the composition being comprised of (A) 60 to 90 wt % of a modified propylene resins with an ethylenically unsaturated silane compound grafted thereon, (B) 20 to 5 wt % of an ethylene resin and (C) 20 to 5 wt % of an ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer rubber.

Process for producing a crosslinked product of a silane grafted

A method for producing cross-linked polyethylene resin foams which comprises mixing a polyolefin resin, a blowing agent and, optionally, a surface active agent containing hydroxyl groups or an acid amide compound under pressure, said polyolefin resin containing a cross-linkable ethylene polymer having on the side chains thereof silyl groups which effect cross-linking upon contact with water; extruding the mixture into a low pressure zone where the extrudate is allowed to expand; and bringing the expanded extrudate into contact with a silanol condensing catalyst so that the expanded extrudate is cross-linked on contact with water.

Production of foam

A crosslinkable polyethylene resin composition comprises, basically, (A) a copolymer of ethylene and an ethylenically unsaturated silane compound, wherein the content of the ethylenically unsaturated silane compound unit is 0.001 to 15 percent by weight, and (B) a silanol condensation. The copolymer may further comprise a monomer copolymerizable with the ethylene and the ethylenically unsaturated silane compound. The composition may be expandable, further comprising a foaming agent and may further comprise a polyolefin and a filler and may be in the form of a film or sheet.

Crosslinkable polyethylene resin compositions

In a process for preparing a laminated resin product by melt-laminating (1) a modified polyolefin composition with (2) a polyester, a polyamide or a hydrolyzed copolymer of ethylenevinylacetate, the improvement comprising using as the modified polyolefin a modified polyolefin composition which comprises a mixture of 60 - 97 wt.% of a polyolefin which polyolefin comprises from 0.1 to 100 wt.% of a polyolefin modified with an unsaturated acid or anhydride content is from 0.01 to 10 wt.% of the total polyolefin content and wherein an unmodified polyolefin comprises from 99.9 to 0 wt.% of the total polyolefin content with 40 - 3 wt.% of a rubber component having 40 - 140 of Mooney viscosity 50 ML.sub.1 + .sub.4 (100.degree. C) and the product so produced.

Process for preparing laminated resin product

A modified polyolefin composition having excellent physical properties such as bending rigidity, bending strength, impact strength, and the like can be prepared by melting and kneading a mixture of a radical generating agent such as benzoyl peroxide, a porous filler, and a polyolefin composed primarily of propylene and, if necessary, a polar vinyl monomer at a high temperature above the decomposition temperature of the radical generating agent.
