A radar system utilizing a CW radar system, including an FMCW radar, is capable of avoiding interference wave generation and of simultaneously covering a number of radar systems within limited frequency modulation bands. The radar systemfor emitting into space transmission radio waves based on a frequency-modulated continuous wave reference, and receiving transmission radio waves reflected from an external object, as well as for obtaining beat signals, from the received signals and the continuous wave reference, and computing from the beat signals obtained, a distance to and a velocity of the external object, comprises a pulse generation meansfor pulsing the continuous-wave reference at an interval unique to the radar system, and an antennafor emitting into space, the pulse transmit signals as the transmission radio waves.

Frequency-modulated radar system with variable pulse interval capability

By pulsing transmission radio waves of continuous wave radar, clutter components included in a reception signal are suppressed. In a radar system that emits into space pulsed transmission radio waves being generated based on a frequency-modulated reference continuous waveform, acquires a reception signal by receiving the pulsed transmission radio waves reflected from an external object, and computes distance thereto and velocity thereof from the frequency of a beat signal obtained by mixing the acquired reception signal with the reference continuous waveform, the radar system includes a frequency-band selectorfor classifying, on the basis of a spectral spread corresponding to the pulse width of the pulsed transmission radio waves, frequency components of the beat signal, and a distance/velocity calculatorfor computing, on the basis of the classified results from the frequency-band selector, relative distance to and velocity of a moving object, or relative distance to a stationary object.

Apparatus and method for suppression of unnecessary signals in a radar system

A receiving part receives, over a plurality of pulse reception sections, the echo of a transmitted pulse in a first range cell after a lapse of a first time period from a pulse transmission, and outputs a first signal based on the received echo. The receiving part also receives, over a plurality of pulse reception sections, the echo of the transmitted pulse in a second range cell after a lapse of a second time period from the pulse transmission, and outputs a second signal based on the received echo. A signal integrating part integrates a first number of first signals and outputs an integration result as a first range integration signal. The signal integrating part also integrates a second number of second signals and outputs an integration result as a second range integration signal. A target detecting part detects, based on the first and second range integration signals, a target.

Target detecting method and target detecting apparatus

A time needed until measurement values are obtained in a two-frequency continuous wave radar systems is reduced. An object detection system that emits transmission signals, as transmission waves, whose frequencies have been modulated successively into a plurality of stepped frequencies, and receives echoes of the transmission waves reflected from target objects, thereby calculating relative velocities of the target objects by frequency-analyzing reception signals obtained from the received echoes. The target object detection system includes: a frequency modulation component that repeatedly executes frequency-modulation processes to successively modulate the transmission signals into those of the stepped frequencies, within a minimum measurement time in which a desired velocity resolution is achieved; and a frequency-analysis component that frequency-analyzes throughout the repeated frequency-modulation processes the reception signals processed by the frequency-modulation component.

Target object detection system

A radar device separates directions of a plurality of targets, obtained from combinations of antenna beams, with a high accuracy. The radar device includes: a direction calculating unit for calculating a primary direction, which is the direction of a target, from a combination of characterizing quantities calculated by a signal detector from the reception waves of at least two beams that partially overlap, among the beams radiated in the plurality of directions; and a direction integrating unit for, when a plurality of primary directions calculated by the direction calculating unit is present, calculating an integrated direction, which is the true target direction, from an area in which distribution of the plurality of primary directions is a predetermined density or greater, based on the primary directions belonging to the area.

Radar device

To provide a radar device that is capable of performing both of long-distance detection performance and short-distance wide-angle monitor in a DBF system radar, there is provided a radar device of a digital beam forming system that radiates waves toward a space, receives a reflected wave that is reflected by an object which exists within the space, and subjects the received reflected wave to signal processing to thereby measure the object, the radar device including a transmitting antenna that radiates waves toward an observation range where required maximum distances different in respective azimuths are assumed, and has a directivity characteristic in which the transmitting gains in the respective azimuths are set on the basis of the distance attenuation characteristic at the required maximum distances.

A radar device includes: an oscillator for generating a wave at a plurality of transmission frequencies; a transmitting antenna; a receiving antenna; a receiver for generating a real received signal; a Fourier transform unit for performing a Fourier transform on the real received signal in a time direction; a spectral peak detecting unit for receiving an input of a result of the Fourier transform to extract peak complex signal values of Doppler frequency points having a maximum amplitude; a distance calculating unit for storing the peak complex signal values and for calculating a distance to a reflecting object based on the stored peak complex signal values to output the obtained distance as a measured distance value; and a distance sign determining unit for determining validity of the measured distance value and for outputting the measured distance value and the Doppler frequency according to a result of determination.
