A friction engagement device of an automatic transmission is provided with a cylindrical drum part supporting an annular friction plate. The drum part includes a cylindrical body with a spline part having serrations extending in the axial direction and depressed radially outward to fit with the friction plate, in an inner circumferential side surface, a vertical wall part provided at an end side of the cylindrical body and extending radially inward, and a corner part provided between the cylindrical body and the vertical wall part. A drum recess is formed inside the corner part, connected to the serration and depressed toward an axial end side. A cut part is provided outside the corner part, connected to the drum recess, and cut in the circumferential direction of the drum part. The drum recess is opened to an outside by the cut part to form an oil gallery.

Friction engagement device and method of forming the same

A power transmission device is provided, which includes a vibration reducing damper provided on a power transmission path, and a clutch mechanism having a plurality of friction plates, a hydraulic pressure chamber, and a centrifugal balance chamber provided opposed to the hydraulic pressure chamber. The clutch mechanism is provided adjacent to an axial side part of the damper, and an oil drain port for hydraulic fluid supplied to the centrifugal balance chamber of the clutch mechanism is provided at a location radially inward of the damper and axially overlapping with the damper.

Power transmission device

When a reverse select operation is performed, a pre-balk lever () rotates to a rotation position as a control rod () rotates. The pre-balk lever () has an engagement portion (), which engages with a tip end portion of a pre-balk pin () at the rotation position. As a reverse lever () swings while they are engaged with each other, a shift rod () moves in such a direction as to activate a synchronizer (). The engagement portion () has a guide surface (), which guides the tip end portion of the pre-balk pin () to the engagement position while the pre-balk lever () is rotating toward the rotation position.
