When a detection device detects any kind of change regarding track recording after the start of the track recording, a grouping instruction is given to information attaching and generating device. An information reproducing apparatus which reads compressed information recorded on a recording medium by one of a plurality of different compression methods, writes the compressed information read into a memory, supplies the compressed information in the memory, to an expander in the order of writing and outputs reproduced information. The type of compression method used in compressing the information read from the recording medium is determined and the timing of starting to read the compressed information from the memory is controlled in accordance with a determination.

An information reproducing apparatus in which the compressed information read from a disc is written to the memory, the written compressed information is read out in the order of writing and is supplied to an expansion device to obtain reproduced information. Writing of the compressed information to the memory is stopped when the amount of compressed information written to the memory increases to a first predetermined amount and writing of the compressed information to the memory is restarted when the amount of compressed information written decreases to a second predetermined amount which is smaller than the first predetermined amount and which is an amount corresponding to the compression ratio of the compressed information. An information reproduction unit has a data read means with a pickup for intermittently reading data recorded on a storage medium, a write means for writing the data in a memory, and a reproduction means for sequentially reading out the data written in the memory. An audio apparatus having a detachable control panel or operating-part main unit includes a microcomputer for detecting an OFF state of an ACC position of the ignition key, or the attached/detached state of the operating-part main unit. When such states are detected, normal operations of the microcomputer; namely, the operations to turn on an SWD V.sub.DD terminal and an A/D port and to set a KEY DATA terminal into a standby mode, are stopped intermittently in order to execute a low consumption process in which electric power is consumed only for holding information in memory in the microcomputer. A method of operating a disk player that reproduces information recorded on a disk. Programs on the disk are addressed from a directory in a memory and the programs are sequentially accessed according to the order in the directory. The directory can be filled by inserting random numbers or by scanning through the programs or over the tracks. A table of contents at the beginning of the disk is read if possible. The tracks can be scanned and only tracks having new programs are reproduced. Also a playback position servo operates with a dead-zone in the drive voltage.
