A needle holder for holding a curved needle to which a suture thread is connected. The needle holder includes a flexible tube; and a grasper provided at a distal end of the flexible tube. The grasper includes a first jaw having a groove, and a protrusion at a distal end portion of the first jaw; and a second jaw movably connected to the first jaw. The grasper can hold the curved needle between the second jaw and the protrusion of the first jaw, and can hold a part of the suture thread between a surface of the groove and the second jaw such that another part of the suture thread passes through a gap formed between another surface of the groove and the second jaw. The protrusion has a hook surface for hooking the suture thread extending outside the groove.

Needle holder and method of using same

A catheter can include a catheter main body and a sheath that covers the catheter main body and can move along the longitudinal axis with respect to the catheter main body. An operating unit can be disposed at a proximal end portion of the sheath and can move the sheath and the catheter main body with respect to one another. The catheter main body can include a slit on an outer peripheral surface of a distal end portion and can extend along the longitudinal axis from a slit distal end to a slit proximal end side. An outside diameter of the distal end portion of the catheter main body is larger than an inside diameter of a distal end portion of the sheath when the distal end portion of the catheter main body is housed in the sheath.

A locking member of a suture locking device includes a loop portion formed in an &#x3b1;-shape when viewed from a width direction, and a pair of extensions extending from the loop portion towards a distal side, and an intersection portion in which the pair of extensions intersect is formed at a distal end of the loop portion. The loop portion is inserted into the hollow portion from the distal side with the thread being inserted through an inner space of loop portion, and the thread is pulled from a proximal side towards the intersection portion in the inner space of the loop portion so that the thread is locked to the loop portion.

Suture locking device and method of locking thread

A suture securing instrument can include a cylindrical body that has an inner circumferential surface, and a securing portion configured to secure a suture. The securing portion can include an outer circumferential surface supported by the inner circumferential surface of the cylindrical body by moving along a longitudinal axis relative to the cylindrical body, and a holding portion configured to hold the suture between the cylindrical body and the securing portion. The holding portion can also include a groove for the suture.

The first fixing member and the second fixing member are arranged such that the first clamping surface and the second clamping surface face each other in an axis line direction of the insertion portion. When the manipulation portion is manipulated and the insertion portion and manipulation member is rotated relatively, the first clamping surface and the second clamping surface are configured to approach by screw-fitting with the second fixing member and the first fixing member. When a predetermined manipulation is performed to the manipulation portion, a coupling between the manipulation member and the other is configured to be released.

A gastrointestinal-tract constricting method includes: while observing the gastrointestinal tract by inserting an endoscope into the gastrointestinal tract, forming a spreading block that suppresses infiltration of a substance, which damages a mucosa basal layer of the gastrointestinal tract, into the muscular layer underlying the mucosa basal layer, the spreading block being formed along a circumferential direction of the gastrointestinal tract and between the mucosa basal layer and the muscular layer; and supplying the substance to a gap between the spreading block and the mucosa basal layer while forming a contact surface between the spreading block and the substance along the circumferential direction of the gastrointestinal tract.

A gastrointestinal-tract constricting method includes, while observing the gastrointestinal tract by inserting an endoscope into the gastrointestinal tract, forming a spreading block that blocks infiltration of a substance, which damages a mucosa basal layer of the gastrointestinal tract, into the muscular layer underlying the mucosa basal layer, the spreading block being formed along a circumferential direction of the gastrointestinal tract and between the mucosa basal layer and the muscular layer; and supplying the substance along the circumferential direction of the gastrointestinal tract and to a surface of the mucosa that lies within a region that overlaps an inner side of the gastrointestinal tract with respect to the spreading block out of the entire circumference of the gastrointestinal tract in a transverse section of the gastrointestinal tract.
