When rolls in a rolling mill are repaired, a roll stand is first dismounted from the rolling mill. Then the dismounted roll stand is secured and the rolls are brought near to a housing of the roll stand in the axial direction of the roll. In this situation the rolls are cut. After the rolls have been cut, the roll stand is released from being secured. Then the roll stand is mounted on the rolling mill. A cutting apparatus used for cutting rolls comprises a base frame and a stand mounted on the base frame for placing the roll stand thereon. The housing of the roll stand placed on the stand is secured against the base frame. Furthermore, the rolls of the roll stand are brought near to the housing in the axial direction of the roll and are located. In the situation located against the housing, the rolls are rotated by a roll rotating apparatus and cut with a cutting tool.

Method of repairing rolls of rolling mill and roll cutting apparatus

An apparatus for winding wire rods which are fed in succession from a rolling mill along a wire path, comprising: a carriage which is movable, at one end of the wire path remote from the rolling mill, in a direction perpendicular to the wire path; plural wire winders for winding the wire rods, the wire winders being mounted on the carriage such that the wire winders are disposed in the direction of movement of the carriage; and a device for moving the carriage to position selected so that one of the wire winders is in its winding position. A winding method is also disclosed, which comprises: positioning one of the wire winders at its winding position and winding the wire rod as a first coil by this one wire winder; upon completion of winding of the wire rod as the first coil, positioning the above one wire winder to its non-winding position before the leading end of the next wire rod fed from the rolling mill reaches the end of the wire path, and positioning another wire winder in its winding position; and winding the next wire rod as a second coil by this another wire winder, while concurrently taking out the first coil from the previously operated wire winder.

Method and apparatus for winding wire rod

A vertical rolling mill according to the present invention comprises at least a pair of rolling rolls having vertical axes of rotation, a stand which supports said rolling rolls in rotatable fashion, a frame which is provided with a sole plate whereon said stand is mounted and an upright portion extending upwardly at one side of said sole plate, at least a pair of spindle members having vertical axes of rotation respectively which are juxtaposed below said sole plate of the frame and are connected with a driving member so as to rotate in opposite directions, and holding members which are installed on said upright portion of the frame, said stand being devised so that, when it is mounted on the sole plate, the side thereof is held by said holding members, and each rolling roll is connected with each spindle member below said stand so as to be driven thereby, and said pair of rolling rolls are provided with a single caliber formed thereon for the purpose of inserting the material-to-be-rolled therein.
