Method and device for manufacturing coiled electrode group

Cylindrical battery and method and device for manufacturing thereof

A separator is inserted into a slit formed in a winding core. A negative electrode plate made of thin metallic foil is fed toward the winding core as being held around the circumferential surface of a tape suction drum that is rotatably supported. The tape suction drum and the winding core are brought in mutual contact under pressure with their respective axes in parallel, and the winding core is driven to rotate, so that the tape suction drum is synchronously rotated with the winding core, by means of the frictional force acting between them, whereby the negative electrode plate held on the tape suction drum is wound onto the winding core together with the separator.

Apparatus for manufacturing spiral electrode assembly

A plurality of cells are disposed in close contact with each other with their longitudinal axes parallel to each other, and their electrode terminals that are juxtaposed at one end are electrically connected to each other with a connector piece. These cells thus joined together are inserted into and held within a frame body formed in one-piece with a pair of end face covers, connecting bar, and retaining piece, or alternatively, inserted into and held within a cell casing having a pair of end face covers, bottom wall, and partition boss formed integrally therewith.

Battery pack

A battery has one terminal on a sealing assembly fitted to one open end of the cell casing, and the other terminal on the exterior surface of the cell casing such as to extend along the entire circular circumferential surface of a predetermined width. The other end of the cell casing opposite from the terminal is electrically insulated by affixing nonconductive films thereto. Two heat-shrinkable nonconductive labels are wound around and bonded to the cell casing, so that the terminal is formed in a recessed, ring-like form between the heat-shrinkable nonconductive labels.

Battery and battery holder

A battery includes a pair of an anode electric power generating source element and a cathode electric power generating source element for generating an electric power, and a container receiving therein the electric power generating source elements. The container includes a breakable portion which is breakable such that a gas from at least a part of the electric power generating source elements is allowed to flow out of the container therethrough when a pressure in the container increases excessively. The battery further includes a variable throttle for the gas which is elastically deformable by the pressure in the container such that the gas is allowed to flow out of the container.
