A sliding member for a thrust bearing is provided. A sliding layer includes fibrous particles dispersed in a synthetic resin, and has a sliding surface side region and an interface side region. The particles have an average particle size Dand Drespectively in first and second cross-sections in the sliding surface side region, and Dand Drespectively in first and second cross-sections in the interface side region. Dand Dare 5-30 &#x3bc;m, and Dand Dare 5 to 20% of respectively Dand D. A dispersion index of the particles having the major axis length of 20 &#x3bc;m or longer is 5 or more, both in the sliding surface side region in view of the first cross-section and in the interface side region in view of the second cross-section.

Sliding member

A sliding member includes a back-metal layer and a sliding layer on the back-metal layer, and the sliding layer has a sliding surface. The sliding layer includes a synthetic resin and fibrous particles dispersed in the synthetic resin. A volume ratio of the fibrous particles in the sliding layer is 1 to 15%, and the fibrous particles are made of semi-graphite having a nano indenter hardness of 1000 to 5000 MPa. An average aspect ratio of the fibrous particles is not less than 5, where an aspect ratio is defined as a ratio of a major axis to a minor axis of the fibrous particle viewed from the sliding surface. An average grain size of the fibrous particles in cross-sectional view perpendicular to the sliding surface is 5 to 50 &#x3bc;m.

A sliding member for a journal bearing is provided. A sliding layer includes fibrous particles dispersed in a synthetic resin, and has a sliding surface side region and an interface side region. The particles have an average particle size Dand Drespectively in an axial and circumferential cross-section in the sliding surface side region, and Dand Drespectively in axial and circumferential cross-sections in the interface side region. Dand Dare 5-30 &#x3bc;m, and Dand Dare 5 to 20% of respectively Dand D. A dispersion index of the particles having the major axis length of 20 &#x3bc;m or longer is 5 or more, both in the sliding surface side region in view of the axial cross-section and in the interface side region in view of the circumferential cross-section.

A sliding member includes a back metal layer and a sliding layer on the back metal layer. The sliding layer includes a synthetic resin matrix and graphite particles dispersed in the matrix in a volume ratio of 5-50% of that of the sliding layer. The graphite particles are composed of spheroidal and flake-like particles. The flake-like particles have a volume ratio of 10-40% of total graphite particles. The spheroidal particles have a cross-sectional structure with a plurality of AB planes of a graphite crystal laminated along a curved particle surface, from the surface toward a center direction. The flake-like graphite particles have a cross-sectional structure with the plurality of AB planes laminated in a thickness direction of the thin plate shape. The spheroidal particles have an average particle size of 3-50 &#x3bc;m, and the flake-like graphite particles have an average particle size of 1-25 &#x3bc;m.

Provided is a partially-cylindrical sliding member including a sliding layer including fibrous particles having an average particle size of 5-25 &#x3bc;m dispersed in a synthetic resin at a volume ratio of 10-35% of the sliding layer. The particles having a major axis length &#x2264;20 &#x3bc;m are included at a volume ratio of &#x2265;10% to total particles. A sliding surface side area is defined from the sliding surface and has a thickness of 25% of a sliding layer thickness T, where the fibrous particles having a major axis length of &#x2265;20 &#x3bc;m have a dispersion index of 1.1-6. An interface side area is defined from the interface and has a thickness of 25% of T, where the dispersion index is 1.1-6. An intermediate area is defined between the both areas, where the dispersion index is 0.1 to less than 1.

Provided is a partially-annular sliding member including a sliding layer including fibrous particles having an average particle size of 5-25 &#x3bc;m dispersed in a synthetic resin at a volume ratio of 10-35% of the sliding layer. The particles having a major axis length&#x2264;20 &#x3bc;m are included at a volume ratio of &#x2265;10% to total particles. A sliding surface side area is defined from the sliding surface and has a thickness of 25% of a sliding layer thickness T, where the fibrous particles having a major axis length of &#x2265;20 &#x3bc;m have a dispersion index of 1.1-6. An interface side area is defined from the interface and has a thickness of 25% of T, where the dispersion index is 1.1-6. An intermediate area is defined between the both areas, where the dispersion index is 0.1 to less than 1.

A sliding member includes a sliding layer including graphite particles dispersed in a synthetic resin matrix. The graphite particles have a volume ratio of 5% to 50% and are composed of spheroidal particles and flake-like particles, respectively having a graphitization degree Kand K. The flake-like particles have a volume ratio of 10 to 40% with respect to a total volume of the graphite particles. The spheroidal particles have a cross-sectional structure with AB planes of a graphite crystal laminated from a surface toward a center. The flake-like particles have a cross-sectional structure with the AB planes laminated in a thickness direction. The spheroidal particles and the flake-like particles have an average particle size of 3 to 50 &#x3bc;m, and 1 to 25 &#x3bc;m respectively. Kis 0.80 to 0.97 and Kis greater than K, and a difference K&#x2212;Kis 0.03 to 0.15.

Provided is a guide roller for a vehicular slide door. The guide roller has an annular metal inner ring; a retainer holding a bearing; an annular metal outer ring and a sliding layer including a synthetic resin. When the sliding layer is sectionalized into a sliding surface side area, an intermediate area and an interface side area, from the sliding surface to an interface with the outer ring, the synthetic resins in the sliding surface side area, the intermediate area and the interface side area have, respectively, a degree of crystallizations X1, X2 and X3 and nanoindenter hardnesses Y1, Y2 and Y3 wherein X2&#x2212;X1 is less than 5%, and X2&#x2212;X3 is less than 5% and wherein Y2 is not less than 115% of Y1, and Y2 is not less than 115% of Y3.

Guide roller for slide door of vehicle

A multi-layer slide member has a back metal layer mainly composed of a steel plate and a porous layer having a metallic porous member and a resin composition filled in the metallic porous member. The metallic porous member has granular portions and narrow portions and includes a structure, in which the granular portions are connected with each other through the narrow portion. Parts or the entirety of the narrow portions have a Bi phase and a Sn&#x2014;Ni&#x2014;Cu intermetallic compound phase.
