A capillary array includes a light detection portion, a sample supply portion, a buffer solution supply portion and a voltage application portion which are necessary functions for electrophoresis, thereby, when assembling the capillary array into an electrophoresis apparatus, the same can be immediately used. Accordingly, a capillary array is provided which can be easily incorporated into an electrophoresis apparatus.

Capillary array

A capillary array capable of being easily mounted on an electrophoresis apparatus without damaging the capillaries. The capillary array can include a plurality of capillaries that can be fixed via hollow electrodes on a load header in a matrix arrangement. The load header can be disposed on the electrophoresis apparatus. The capillary array can include a capillary frame onto which a capillary head and a detection portion can be detachably mounted. The structure allows the load header, the capillary head, the detection unit and other portions of the capillary array to be handled as a unit, thereby making it easier to mount the capillary array on the electrophoresis apparatus.

Capillary array and electrophoresis apparatus, and methods

An electrophoresis analysis method and apparatus capable of maintaining high reliability upon a repeated use of the same gel. A heat transfer medium selected from the group consisting of solids, liquids and gels is filled in substantially all of the gaps between the electrode and each capillary. A hollow electrode into which a capillary is inserted has a plurality of retaining shapes such that the capillary can be fixed at the center of the electrode. The heat from the capillary can be efficiently dissipated via the electrode, and also the temperature increase in the capillary can be prevented. Further, temperature increases due to the heating of the capillaries during operation can be controlled and thereby thermal deterioration of the gel can be prevented.

Capillary array apparatus, method of manufacturing the same, and electrophoresis analysis method

The present invention easies a connection between electrodes of a capillary array device and a connection plate for supplying a high voltage to the electrodes. According to the present invention, a connection plateand hollow electrodesare connected without solder but via a spring force. Alternatively, the hollow electrodescan be connected to the connection plateby utilizing volume elasticity of the connection plate.

Capillary array device

An apparatus for positioning a sample comprises a fine adjustment stage and a coarse adjustment stage. The fine adjustment stage is held by three Z axis fine adjustment driving structures above the first base. The fine adjustment stage has a number of through holes. The fine adjustment stage is provided X and Y axes fine adjustment driving structures other than the Z axis fine adjustment driving structures. The coarse adjustment stage comprises the second base which is provided above the first base and a number of protrusions which are provided dispersively on the second base. The coarse adjustment stage is connected to X and Y axes coarse adjustment driving structures through flexible and elastic members. The sectional areas of the protrusions are selected to a size which is movable freely within the through holes, respectively. By adjusting the Z axis fine adjustment driving structures, a sample hold base is held either the coarse adjustment stage or the fine adjustment stage.
