In a road type determination apparatus, an image information acquiring unit acquires image information in which an image of a travel road on which a vehicle is traveling is captured. A scene determining unit determines a traveling scene of the travel road based on the image information. An ordinary road likelihood calculating unit calculates an ordinary road likelihood that indicates that a type of the travel road of the vehicle is an ordinary road based on the traveling scene. A limited-access road likelihood calculating unit calculates a limited-access road likelihood that indicates that the type of the travel road of the vehicle is a limited-access road based on the traveling scene. A type determining unit determines the type of the travel road of the vehicle based on the ordinary road likelihood and the limited-access road likelihood.

Road type determination apparatus and driving assistance apparatus

A vehicle control apparatus acquires a position of an other vehicle that is present ahead of the own vehicle in its traveling direction, and uses the acquired position of the other vehicle to calculate a movement locus, which is a past path of the other vehicle. The vehicle control device calculates a lateral movement amount of the movement locus in a predetermined range in the traveling direction of the own vehicle, the lateral movement amount being an amount of change in position in a lateral direction which is a direction intersecting the traveling direction, and calculates an average value of the lateral movement amounts. The vehicle control apparatus excludes, from the movement loci, a movement locus having a lateral movement amount whose difference from the average value is larger than a predetermined value, and calculates the predicted path based on remaining movement loci.

There is provided a communication apparatus and a communication system that reduces communication interference in inter-vehicle communication by considering the emergency degree of the environment around a vehicle and the accident incidence rate in each traveling scene and that raises the communication quality of high-emergency-degree data. The communication apparatus has a communication unit that has a power setting unit and performs inter-vehicle communication and a control unit that has a vehicle information acquisition unit for acquiring vehicle information and a reference vehicle position estimation unit for estimating the present position of a reference vehicle and controls the communication unit; when high-emergency-degree information of the reference vehicle is transmitted by use of vehicle information, the control unit controls the communication unit in such away that transmission is performed with increased transmission power.

Disclosed is a vehicle-mounted communication device that carries out radio communications with a communication device for pedestrians which is carried by a pedestrian, the vehicle-mounted communication device including: a receiver that receives pedestrian information showing whether the pedestrian belongs to a pedestrian group formed of the pedestrian and a plurality of pedestrians in the vicinity of the pedestrian from the communication device for pedestrians; a controller that judges the pedestrian information received by the receiver and issues a command to present pedestrian attention information when the pedestrian information shows that the pedestrian does not belong to a pedestrian group; and an information outputter that presents the pedestrian attention information according to the command from the controller.
