A vehicle lamp system includes a high-beam lamp unit that can form a high-beam light-distribution pattern, a leveling mechanism that vertically adjusts an optical axis of the high-beam lamp unit, and a control unit that controls on/off of the high-beam lamp unit and controls the leveling mechanism. Upon the engine being started, the control unit controls the high-beam lamp unit to turn on for a predetermined period of time in a state in which the leveling unit adjusts the optical axis of the lamp unit to aim more vertically downward than in normal operation.

A vehicle headlight control apparatus controls headlights of a vehicle including LEDs. The vehicle headlight control apparatus includes: drivers and each of which gradually changes a luminance of the LEDs between a predetermined on state and a predetermined off state over a switching time period; and a lamp ECU that determines the switching time period in a changeable manner.

A lighting apparatus for a vehicle includes headlamps configured to be switchable between high beam and low beam, wherein a direction of an optical axis of each of the headlamps is variable in a substantially horizontal plane by use of a swivel actuator and a controller configured to control the headlamps, wherein if the controller detects a forward vehicle in projection areas of the headlamps, the controller temporarily switches from the high beam to the low beam, then drives the swivel actuator toward a target swivel angle according to a position of the detected forward vehicle and, after finishing driving toward the target swivel angle or during driving toward the target swivel angle, starts projection by the high beam.
